    Job description

MORE THAN A JOB. YOU SET THE STANDARD

Great Lakes Testing Service is the private, third-party alternative to the state DMV for commercial driver's license skills testing. When the state is backlogged and understaffed, we are the faster path—a privatized testing service that gets qualified candidates through their Class A road test in days, not weeks.

A driver who has finished the classroom and the yard shouldn't lose weeks—and a paycheck—waiting in a DMV queue. Great Lakes Testing Service exists to remove that bottleneck. But faster never means easier; every exam we administer must be fair, consistent, and run strictly to state and AAMVA protocols.

The examiner is where that promise gets kept. This is a role for an experienced, professional Class A driver ready to bring their expertise off the road and into a vital regulatory and safety position—evaluating the next generation of drivers, protecting the standard, and going home every night.

    ABOUT THE THIRD-PARTY CDL EXAMINER

As a Third-Party CDL Examiner based in Pompano Beach, Florida, you will administer commercial driver's license examinations in strict accordance with the State of Florida and American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) guidelines.

Your mission is to ensure every CDL exam is fair, consistent, and adheres strictly to safety and state protocols.

You will be part of the national Great Lakes Testing Service examiner team, reporting to the National Director of Great Lakes Testing. If you are detail-oriented, passionate about highway safety, and looking for a local role that keeps you home every night, we'd like to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO AS THE THIRD-PARTY CDL EXAMINER

    Administer CDL Exams

    • Conduct comprehensive Class A commercial driver's license testing, including pre-trip, yard, and road examinations.
    • Evaluate applicants fairly and consistently under State of Florida and AAMVA guidelines.
    • Protect the integrity and neutrality of every examination—no shortcuts, no exceptions.

    Ensure Fleet Safety

    • Inspect testing vehicles prior to exams to verify they are in good operating condition.
    • Confirm every vehicle is fully safe for both road and yard testing before a candidate begins.
    • Flag and document equipment issues so they can be corrected before impacting testing.

    Compliance

    • Accurately complete, process, and file all required state paperwork, training records, and examination documentation.
    • Maintain complete, timely, and audit-ready records at all times.

    Promote Professionalism

    • Maintain a structured, professional, and neutral testing environment.
    • Demonstrate patience and communicate clearly with every examination candidate while providing a fair and professional testing experience.
