This position reports to the Executive team, and under executive direction; manages the overall operation of the branch, including investment and loan portfolios; initiates action to improve growth and development of the branch loan and deposit portfolios; implements marketing plans for product and service promotion; and analyzes financial statements and produces branch reports. The Branch Manager has responsibility for providing direction and leadership to branch team; the position requires a results-oriented professional with a commitment to furthering the reputation of the credit union in the community.
Initiates action to improve growth and development of the branch loan and deposit portfolios, cross-sells all credit union products and services, and pursues new business by establishing and maintaining liaison with business community contacts; sets short- and long-term branch goals and objectives; controls expenses through the application of internal checks and balances; develops yearly capital and operating budgets and makes budget presentations to executive management.
Manages directly or indirectly branch staff; approves the hiring of new staff; evaluates performance of branch staff, identifies training and development needs, recommends training and development programs to maintain skill levels and to enhance staff growth; promotes motivation, enthusiasm, service excellence, product knowledge and professionalism; coaches staff in sales techniques and cross-selling of credit union products and services; establishes performance standards, if necessary initiates discipline; conducts staff meetings and monitors all branch activities to ensure awareness of operational problems and successes. Motivates and guides staff to ensure high-quality service is provided to members and branch staff.
Ensures maximum utilization of staff and resources within budgetary and policy constraints.
Markets services and products by implementing plans to increase member awareness and branch profitability; ensures staff are kept up-to-date and well informed on products and services and in all aspects of cross-selling, relationship building, and sales and service standards.
Ensures the premises of the branch are maintained in good condition and are following lease agreements (if applicable). This includes performing routine inspections and conducting minor maintenance activities while referring to more complex issues to the CEO.
Qualifications include high school diploma, business degree or diploma and a minimum of five years' experience in a supervisory/management function in the credit union branch environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate should have completed or is currently enrolled in the CUIC Management Studies program. Commercial lending experience is preferred.
