The Opportunity

This is a key leadership position that will manage a payroll team and take accountability for delivering the end-to-end payroll for circa 3500 employees. Managing the processing of our weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles across awards, enterprise agreements and individually contracted employees, ensuring our employees are paid in line with their respective terms and conditions and legislative requirements.

You will ensure all the obligations TFI has as an employer are managed and met in a timely manner including FBT, ATO and Return to Work. This position will also be lead process improvement and ensuring the business leverages our payroll system to improve TFI’s employee experience, support educating line leaders and drive efficiencies into our practices.

About The Role

Manage the payroll function, managing payroll officers and support functions; provides effective leadership and direction to the payroll team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of payroll services with strong customer service focus.

· Ensure payrolls are accurate, timely and compliant with relevant awards, agreements and legislations.

· Lead and develop a payroll team through change and optimisation projects

· Ensures the accurate calculation, payment and reconciliation of employee entitlements, PAYG, Tax, superannuation contributions and termination payments; validates payroll system calculations; checks and verifies direct deposit banking information.

· Manages Payroll Tax lodgments, Workers Compensation, Superannuation Clearing, STP Clearing

· Performs End of Month and End of Financial Year Tasks including reporting to Finance and submitting accurate year end totals for payroll tax, workcover levy remuneration and reconciliations.

· Prepares payroll reports for HR, Finance, Management and Business areas; prepares ad hoc reports as required.

· Provide support and guidance to site leaders on payroll related topics, time and attendance guidance, EA negotiations, Award changes and system updates.

· Contribute to the development, review and continuous improvement of payroll team, systems, policies, procedures and practices.

What We Are Looking For:

· Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, Human Resources, or related field

· Significant experience in a similar role

· Working knowledge of UKG, Payroll Metrics and iChris software applications

· A strong financial or commercial acumen

· A people leader who can inspire team performance and lead teams through change and optimisation projects
