The Role:
Join the team keeping our communities connected. All Points Broadband is looking for a Fiber Installation Technician for our Fiber Construction & Engineering Splicing Team. You'll install, test, and repair equipment at customer homes, and troubleshoot issues all the way back to the active fiber area cabinets. What You’ll Do:
- Install and repair fiber internet and voice services in customer homes, from first connection to final signal check
- Run and maintain wiring at the customers home, including pre-connectorized fiber and ethernet jumpers.
- Test signal quality and troubleshoot issues using company-provided tools and training
- Use hand tools and power equipment to install and repair fiber lines, premise wiring, and equipment
- Walk customers through their service, answer questions clearly, and spot chances to recommend products that fit their needs
- Team up with call center staff and leadership to solve installation and repair problems fast
- Handle material logistics: load and unload trucks, track inventory, and keep systems updated
- Drive a company vehicle and train on safe lift truck and forklift operation
- Help train new team members as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and carry loads up to 75 pounds, including a ladder
- Meets the 285-pound equipment weight limit
- Able to pass a DOT physical
- Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, and other tight spaces, kneeling or standing for extended periods
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to climb poles and ladders after company-provided training, using safety equipment (belt, strap, hard hat, and other gear as needed)
- Able to distinguish fiber and wire colors for correct identification
Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort with basic hand tools
- Strong attention to detail and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with MS Office and other job-related technology
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Nice to Have:
- Experience with FTTx construction, installation, and repair
- Understanding of telecom network topology and customer connectivity
- Hands-on experience with telecom networks, including OSP and ISP elements
- Familiarity with OSHA and other safety regulations
Schedule & Travel:
- Available for rotating on-call emergency coverage
- Open to overtime based on business needs
- Willing to travel locally to support other areas
