Position Overview
The Robotic Process Automation Developer designs, develops, implements, and supports RPA solutions that automate business processes and reduce manual processing. This role works closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand process flows, identify automation opportunities, gather requirements, and translate business needs into scalable automated solutions.
The RPA Developer builds and maintains automation workflows, supports related database and API integrations, enhances existing automations, and develops new RPA solutions as business requirements evolve. This position also contributes to project planning, testing, documentation, and regular status reporting within an Agile operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
RPA Development and Automation
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain RPA solutions using UiPath.
- Develop attended and unattended automations to support business processes.
- Create and maintain automation workflows that reduce manual processing and human interaction.
- Enhance and support existing RPA solutions as business requirements evolve.
- Develop new automations for identified business processes and operational improvements.
Process Analysis and Requirements Gathering
- Work closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand current-state process flows.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering, debugging, and testing sessions with automation stakeholders.
- Identify automation opportunities and translate business requirements into technical automation solutions.
- Apply process mapping and business process management concepts to automation initiatives.
Application, Database, and Integration Development
- Build and support databases used to store and process information required by RPA solutions.
- Develop and consume APIs to integrate automation solutions with enterprise applications and services.
- Use SQL to support data handling, storage, and automation workflows.
- Apply web technologies, including HTML, JavaScript, and the Document Object Model, to support browser-based automation.
- Use programming and scripting languages such as Python, C#, Java, .NET, JavaScript, and VBScript in support of automation solutions.
- Use Git for source control and automation development activities.
Testing, Support, and Documentation
- Troubleshoot, debug, and test RPA solutions to ensure reliable operation.
- Maintain existing automations and implement enhancements as required.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and automation documentation.
- Support ongoing monitoring and operational maintenance of automation solutions.
Project and Agile Support
- Work with subject matter experts to develop project plans and establish completion dates.
- Participate in Agile development activities and provide regular updates for weekly reporting.
- Support automation initiatives in an environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness to changing priorities.
- Apply software development lifecycle practices using Agile and Waterfall methodologies as appropriate.
Qualifications
Education
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be substituted.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing RPA solutions using UiPath. [Required]
- Hands-on experience developing attended and unattended automations. [Required]
- Experience developing and consuming APIs.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies, including development of technical specifications.
Skills
- Proficiency with one or more programming languages, including Python, C#, Java, or .NET. [Required]
- Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript or VBScript.
- Knowledge of SQL for data handling and storage.
- Familiarity with Git version control.
- Understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and the Document Object Model for web automation.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts.
- Understanding of business process management, process mapping, Lean, Six Sigma, and automation opportunity identification.
- Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving abilities. [Required]

Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a 6C Public Trust clearance. [Required]
- Employment and continued employment are contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a favorable clearance. [Required]
- Final suitability determination is at the sole discretion of the Department of Education.

- Must not be delinquent or in default on any federal student loans. [Required]
- Ability to obtain and maintain a PIV-I card. [Required]
- PIV-I cards must be picked up in person, which may require travel by car, train, or plane to a designated location. [Required]
Preferred Qualifications
- UiPath Associate or Advanced Developer certification.
- UiPath or other RPA-related certification.
- High-level familiarity with UiPath Orchestrator.
- SQL knowledge.
- Experience developing and maintaining automation documentation.
