Job Summary:

The Tool Crib Operator is responsible for sourcing and obtaining quotations for tooling, supplies, and related materials necessary to support shop floor production, maintenance, and service requirements.. This position encompasses responsibility for inventory transactions and maintenance using computerized business system. Runs monthly reports and sets cycle count program and review. Works with Supervisor to assure proper spend review and execution of facility requirements.

Job Model:  On-Site

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Consistent, regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

• Obtain quotes and submit purchase requests for tooling and supplies needed to support production.

• Receive and deliver all items purchased for the Tool Room.

• Maintain file for purchasing items.

• Assigns item number for inventory items. (Approximately 4000 items)

• Maintains CribMaster system and ensures data quality and accuracy of item fields (Pricing, Lead Time, MOQ, Approved Vendors, Material Category, etc.).

• Monitors and responds to special requests from Production Supervisors in a timely fashion

• Manages the replenishment of Kanban and/or supplier consigned inventory for designated parts.

• Obtain quotes on all items; request purchase orders, and ensure order is placed with vendor.

• Maintain stock and inventory for the Machine Shop, Maintenance, Assembly, and all other production areas.,.

• Sign out tools to all of the above areas as needed, maintain log on computer.

• Maintain inventory of all tool room supplies.

• Works with the Logistics team to ensure supplier compliance with freight and shipping procedures, assists in resolving receiving issues, and utilizes cost effective and efficient shipping methods.

• Keep Tool Room organized and clean.

Complexity of Duties:

• Works under general supervision; exercises independent judgment in accordance with well-established policies and procedures.

• Requires a good working knowledge of machine shop tooling requirements.

Education and/or Experience:

• Two years in a machine shop or purchasing environment is desired.

Targeted pay range: $28.00 - $30.00/hr. depending on your experience

Chesterton is committed to paying all its employees in a fair and equitable manner. The pay range associated with this position ($28.00/hr. - $30.00/hr. DOE) is Chesterton's good-faith salary estimate for the presently available position. Several roles at Chesterton are considered “leveled” positions and as such, the company reserves the right to advertise and or hire for this position at appropriate level depending on applicant’s skillset/experience. If the salary range to be offered for a “leveled” based position (I, II, III, etc.) is different than what was advertised on any posting, that range will be discussed with the candidate before they are formally invited to interview.

Hired applicants may be eligible for additional incentive compensation depending on the level and or function of the position which will be discussed with the candidate prior to formal interview. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

Please note that the final salary offered for any position will be based on many factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications such as education and experience, internal equity, geographical location, and budget.
