Job Title: CNC Mill 5-Axis Setup/Operator

San Jose, CA Reports To: Senior CNC Mill Programmer FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary The CNC Mill 5-Axis Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce complex precision components according to customer and engineering specifications. This role involves reading and interpreting technical drawings, ensuring tight tolerances, and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Setup & Operation Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T specifications.
• Install and secure fixtures, tooling, and workpieces for 5-axis CNC milling operations.
• Load and verify CNC programs (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, or similar) and make offsets or adjustments as needed.
• Set machine parameters to achieve optimal cutting conditions for various materials.
• Quality Control Perform first article inspections (FAI) and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.).
• Monitor production runs and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Document setup sheets, inspection results, and production logs.
• Collaboration & Troubleshooting Work closely with programming and engineering teams to optimize machining strategies.
• Troubleshoot machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, or dimensional deviations.
• Train and assist other operators when necessary.
• Maintenance & Safety Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment.
• Follow all company safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Work Environment Machine shop environment with exposure to noise, coolant, and moving machinery.
• Requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
