    As the Vice President of Finance and Controller, you will lead AACSB’s accounting and finance functions and is accountable for the effective execution of its accounting and financial operations. The Vice President partners with the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Financial Officer, who retains executive accountability for enterprise financial strategy, resource allocation, financial risk and Board-level financial governance.

    The Vice President converts financial results into clear advice for executive leadership, maintains an effective internal control environment, and improves processes and systems as AACSB advances its mission to elevate the quality and impact of business schools globally.

    How You'll Contribute

    • · Lead the Finance and Accounting function, establish priorities and service standards, assign work, develop staff, evaluate performance, and maintain appropriate coverage and segregation of duties.
    • · Own the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger and financial records for AACSB’s U.S. and international operations. Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable requirements; review significant accounting matters; and maintain AACSB’s target deadline for closing the books.
    • · Lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, scenario analysis, cash forecasting, and enterprise-wide financial and business analysis. Establish assumptions, coordinate department input, challenge material variances, identify performance drivers and risks, and deliver decision-useful insight to organizational leaders.
    • · Oversee treasury and financial operations, including liquidity, banking relationships, investment accounting, payment controls, accounts payable, employee expenses, corporate cards, billing, accounts receivable, collections, and revenue processes supporting AACSB’s products and services.
    • · Oversee U.S. and regional payroll, related reconciliations and journal entries, and coordinate with Human Resources and external service providers. Review and approve payroll and other disbursements within delegated authority.
    • · Direct the annual financial statement audits for AACSB’s U.S. and Singapore entities, preparation of Form 990, and other tax, banking, and regulatory filings. Serve as the primary management contact for external auditors and financial advisers.
    • · Design, document, monitor, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, approval authorities, and financial risk-management practices. Review significant contracts, strategic initiatives, capital investments, pricing decisions, and other commitments; promptly escalate material risks, compliance concerns, and control deficiencies.
    • · Identify and implement AI and automation strategies to enhance effectiveness, streamline processes and enhance member value.
    • · Prepare and review financial statements, forecasts, analyses, and other materials for executive leadership, department leaders, the Board of Directors, and its committees. Present financial information when requested and support effective oversight and decision-making.
    • · Own financial systems and related processes, including Sage Intacct, Martus, Salesforce finance integrations, expense-management platforms, payroll interfaces, and banking tools. Improve automation, reporting, documentation, data integrity, access controls, and scalable workflows without weakening controls.
    • · Perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with the position’s scope and level of accountability.
    • · Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
    • · Fluency in the English language
    • · Active CPA in good standing, or comparable internationally recognized professional accounting qualification.
    • · At least 10 years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience, including at least five years leading accounting or finance teams and major financial processes.
    • · Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, audit management, internal controls, revenue recognition, and the operation of a disciplined monthly close.
    • · Demonstrated experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, treasury, and executive-level reporting in addition to controllership responsibilities.
    • · Experience working with executive leadership and presenting financial information to boards, finance committees, audit committees, or comparable governance bodies.
    • · Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally (approximately 5% of the year)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • · Experience in a nonprofit association, membership organization, professional society, or other mission-driven enterprise.
    • · Experience with multi-entity, international, and multi-currency operations, including coordination of non-U.S. audits or compliance requirements.
    • · Experience with Sage Intacct, Martus, Salesforce, and integrated expense, payroll, banking, or business-intelligence systems.
    • · Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline.
    • · Experience modernizing finance operations through automation, systems integration, improved data governance, and stronger management reporting.
