Assistant Manager - Quality
Job Description Summary
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure that monitoring of production line and periodic Quality Control checks are being carried out on regularly in order to help production department to reduce the In-Process rejection.
• Devising and establishing a company's quality standards, procedures and specifications.
• Analyze, validate, and investigate returned products to identify root causes of failures, ultimately reducing warranty costs and improving product reliability.
• To create and maintain documentations such as quality manuals and quality procedures.
• To continuously review quality control processes, procedures and capabilities in order to ensure most cost effective and efficient methods for meeting quality requirements and making recommendation for improvement.
• Ensures compliance with the customer requirements, quality policy, company standards, regulatory and external applicable standards.
• Specifying quality requirements of raw materials with suppliers. Auditing materials provided by suppliers to assure quality.
• Lead regular inspection meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan for improving product quality.
• Implementing improvements to production processes that lead to overall increases in product quality
• Investigating causes of quality problems and proposing solutions. Facilitate identification of root causes of different problems and take corrective and preventive actions.
• Provide feedback to production department based on customer comments, internal and external inspection results and audit results.
• Guide subordinate to ensure the quality at various stages in different sections.
• Responsible for performance evaluation of team members and identifying performance gaps and recommend training and development areas.
• Plan and closely monitor progress of on the job training of existing & new team members, trainees, etc.
• Plan and execute development plans of team members in order to enhance their skills to achieve higher efficiency and productivity.
• To participate in making Department procedures , guidelines , PFMEA , Control plan , etc.
• Ensure LPA , Process audits , Gauge and instruments calibration followed as per plan.
• Monitor development activities and make periodical reports, MIS
• Resolve supplier quality issues by systematic problem solving approach in co-ordination with Global SQE team.
• Maintain plant status as per Q4 audit check list
• Conduct MSA studies , process capability study , Reverse PFMEA , Internal audit for IATF .
• Develop Robust Quality system and Fire wall at all Export parts suppliers.
• Metallurgical inspection/equipment use is added advantage
• Should be familiar with problem solving & analytical tools – 8D, why why, DOE , Shainin
• Experience in Axle, Transmission, driveline and related parts, is an added advantage
• Familiar with MS office, Minitab useS
• Product and Process Knowhow: Strong Knowledge on commodities like Castings, Forging, Stamped parts, Gears, shafts, Engine and Transmission parts
• Should have Strong Technical Knowhow and ability to take decision on Quality for various process like Casting / Machining , Heat treatment , Planting , Gear cutting , gear shaving , Gear grinding

Required Skills and Education
- Good communication skill
- Focus on Results instead efforts
- Hands on knowledge in Castings, Forgings, and machining
- Should be specialist in APQP, PFMEA, SPC, PPAP and IATF 16949
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (IATF-16949) and its tools and Techniques.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 & 45001.
- Should have hand on experience in inspection parts , GD & T and CMM use.
- Hands on knowledge in automotive parts development
