Assistant Director of Engineering

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, ensuring the safety, reliability, efficiency, and optimal performance of all facilities, systems, and equipment.

The role assists in leading the Engineering team, implementing preventive and corrective maintenance programs, coordinating engineering projects, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, brand standards, and safety regulations.

As a key operational leader, the Assistant Director of Engineering contributes to maintaining high standards of technical performance, operational efficiency, sustainability, and guest satisfaction while supporting the Director of Engineering in achieving departmental objectives.
Your Responsibilities Includes:

• Assist the Director of Engineering in managing the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations across all hotel facilities.

• Supervise, guide, and mentor the Engineering team to ensure productivity, technical competency, and adherence to safety and operational standards.

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.

• Conduct regular inspections of equipment, systems, and hotel premises to identify maintenance requirements, safety hazards, and opportunities for operational improvement.

• Ensure all engineering facilities, systems, and equipment are maintained in safe, reliable, and efficient operating condition.

• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors for maintenance, repair, and engineering projects.

• Support the planning and execution of renovations, refurbishments, and capital projects, ensuring quality, timelines, and budget compliance.

• Ensure compliance with applicable local laws, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and hotel brand standards.

• Monitor engineering inventory, spare parts, maintenance materials, tools, and equipment to ensure availability and effective cost control.

• Assist the Director of Engineering in preparing departmental budgets, forecasts, reports, and performance dashboards.

• Monitor engineering-related expenses and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

• Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to hotel operations.

• Implement and monitor energy conservation, resource efficiency, and sustainability initiatives in coordination with the Director of Engineering.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, service logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.

• Support emergency response and crisis management plans, ensuring the operational readiness and safety of all hotel facilities.

• Work closely with other hotel departments to address engineering-related operational requirements and maintain smooth hotel operations.

• Monitor the performance and condition of critical engineering systems and recommend improvements or corrective actions when required.

• Support the development and implementation of engineering procedures, standards, and maintenance plans to improve operational efficiency.

• Ensure all engineering activities are carried out with minimal impact on guest comfort and hotel operations.

• Perform other engineering-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 2 years of management experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building management systems.
• Familiar with Indonesian rules & regulations as well as law including permit and licenses related to Engineering.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead and develop engineering teams effectively.
• Demonstrated experience in preventive and corrective maintenance, project management, and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Good knowledge of safety standards, regulatory requirements, compliance, and preventive maintenance best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia is a must, and fluent in spoken and written English.
• Flexible and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
