The Maintenance Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the facility in a functional, presentable, and safe condition. This position is seasonal and is staffed as necessary in response to fluctuating business operations.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.
Responsibilities
- Maintains program facility in a safe, functional and presentable manner.
- Assists in preforming general repair/maintenance to include, but not limited to electrical, building, plumbing, landscaping, painting, carpentry, and basic remodeling.
- Ensures all maintenance equipment and supplies are accounted for at all times.
- Assists in maintaining inventory and security of all maintenance equipment and supplies related to the facility and grounds.
- Responds to all work orders in a timely manner.
- Requests maintenance supplies and equipment as needed from maintenance supervisor or designee.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Gather and remove litter.
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, and other grounds features.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- 1 year of formal groundskeeping work
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, basic construction knowledge and skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in maintenance/grounds keeping work
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
- Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with weather (rain, lightning, extreme heat and winds).
- Able to withstand and manipulate through construction areas, sports fields, etc.
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors throughout the entire duration of their shift period, which lasts 8 hours or more on a typical shift.
- Must be able to stand, bend, or stoop for the entire duration of the shift, as necessary.
- Must be prepared and physically able to respond with appropriate protocol in a variety of dynamic supervision situations with clients of 0-17 years in age.
- In a sudden or emergency event, staff must at all times be physically able to run, jump, lunge, twist, push, pull, apply approved techniques and otherwise manage or coerce the full weight of an infant or adolescent.
- Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care for youth if accommodations are required.
- Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of staff activities.
