[26.03] Copernicus Software IV&V Engineer (Integration Validation and Verification) - (m/f/d)

For our activities in Darmstadt (Germany) we are looking for a Software IV&V (Integration, Validation and Verification) Engineer (m/f/d)

The successful candidate will be part of a service team responsible for the Integration, Validation and Verification (IV&V) of complex software systems chains used in the Ground Segment of Copernicus and the future Sentinel expansion missions.

In more details, the activities to perform include:

• Engineering activities for requirements definition/consolidation and early design phases (direct implementation or follow-up support provided to EUMETSAT teams) at System, GS and GS Element Level;
• Engineering activities for detailed design phases and build-up phases (also direct implementation or follow up support) at System, GS and GS Element Level;
• Engineering activities for IV&V at System, GS and GS Element Level

The ideal candidate is a SW System Engineer professional with demonstrated work experience preferably acquired on Systems Integration and Validation projects.

Mandatory skills and experience:

• Proven ability in I&V of complex data processing systems, written in C++ and running under a UNIX-like environment
• Requirements and verification management
• Formal testing at component, facility and system level
• Creation of suitable test cases, documentation and their execution
• Experience in benchmarking and stress testing
• Structured software development and verification
• Experience in operational environments under strict change control

The working language is English, therefore the capability of working effectively in that language, including the participation in technical meetings and/or boards and the production of technical documents and reports, is essential.

Optional skills/experience:
Knowledge of as many as possible of following subjects would be beneficial (in order of importance):

• Earth observation data processing, archiving and distribution systems
• Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software lifecycles (e.g. ECSS)
• Experience in writing technical requirements and establishing their allocation / traceability with the support of dedicated tools (e.g.
  DOORS)
• Experience in interface management and definition, including  familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition and capability to prepare and manage ICDs
• Experience with automated testing (e.g. Jenkins, Selenium, Robot Framework)
• Knowledge of IT/ground segment technologies:
  relational databases, virtualisation, containerization, networking, SW deployment tools, etc.

The job involves performing activities at our customer site in Darmstadt. Therefore, the successful candidate will be requested to be based in the Darmstadt area. Remote-only candidatures will not be accepted.

The position falls within the Development job family, with the role of Test Specialist and a professional level of Senior Professional. The salary range for this position is 78.000€-105,000€ yearly gross.

The start date is Q1 2027

Priority will be given to candidates already eligible to work in Germany
