Direct Support Professional, Vocational Services (Full-time, Days)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the administrative supervision of the Community Participation Support Manager, the position is responsible for the social/vocational development of individuals enrolled in the Community Participation Supports Program of the Vocational Training Facility. Instructs, supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in assembling parts or assemblies into units in support of workshop contracts.

Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the individuals served.

Type of supervision exercised: Full. Jobs reporting to this position: Ten production employees

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

One year’s experience working with individuals who are mentally/physically disabled is required. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Good verbal and written skills and interpersonal skills required for effective communication with employees, trainees, and management.
