Senior Structural Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Structural Engineer will lead the technical evaluation and rehabilitation design of aerial structures. The role will oversee structural assessments, develop repair and rehabilitation solutions, and provide technical guidance throughout the design process.

• Plan and oversee structural field inspections and nondestructive testing activities.
• Review existing structural documents, records, and observed field conditions.
• Evaluate structural deterioration, condition, and performance.
• Develop repair, rehabilitation, and maintenance recommendations based on inspection findings.
• Prepare and/or review structural calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager and other engineering disciplines to develop practical and effective design solutions.
• Incorporate site access, facility operations, safety, phasing, and constructability considerations into design recommendations.
• Support the development of rehabilitation designs from field investigation through final documentation.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to address existing-condition challenges and rehabilitation constraints.
• Experience evaluating and rehabilitating bridges, aerial structures, or similar transportation structures is preferred.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8-12 years of relevant Structural/Engineering experience.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000

Physical Requirements The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
