Structural Engineer

Position Summary

The Structural Engineer will provide structural design services for the removal and replacement of underground and aboveground storage tanks at three facilities. Responsibilities include evaluating existing foundations, supports, slabs, and other affected structures; determining structural requirements for new or replacement tank installations; and preparing structural calculations, drawings, details, and specifications for the construction documents.

• Evaluate existing foundations, supports, slabs, and other structures affected by tank installations or replacements.
• Determine structural requirements for new or replacement tank installations.
• Prepare structural calculations, drawings, details, and specifications for construction documents.
• Assess existing structural conditions and identify required modifications or reinforcements.
• Coordinate with civil, environmental, and other design disciplines to resolve design interfaces.
• Incorporate site conditions and construction sequencing considerations into structural design solutions.
• Address interfaces between new structural work and existing facilities.
• Support the development of practical, constructible structural solutions for tank installation and replacement.
• Experience with tank foundations, equipment supports, and facility rehabilitation or replacement projects is preferred.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8-12 years of structural engineering experience, with experience in analysis, design, evaluation, and rehabilitation.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000

Physical Requirements The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
