    Job description

    Engineering Management

Adjunct Faculty Pool | John R. Post School of Engineering | Remote

The John R. Post School of Engineering at Alvernia University invites applications to its adjunct faculty pool in Engineering Management. Courses are remote and largely asynchronous. Experienced engineering leaders, project managers, operations and manufacturing professionals, and other technical professionals are encouraged to apply, including those new to college teaching. Applicants should apply to the pool even when there is no immediate course need; qualified applicants may be considered for future semesters as needs arise. Candidates hired into the pool are contracted separately for individual courses as assignments become available. Pool membership does not guarantee a course assignment. Candidates should be comfortable creating engaging, accessible online learning experiences for working professionals and graduate students.

    Potential teaching areas

    Project and Operations Management

Engineering project management, production and operations management, and applied management of engineering and technical organizations.

    Analytics, Risk, and Process Improvement

Data-driven decision-making, risk analysis, process improvement, applied analytics, Lean, and Six Sigma.

    Leadership and Strategy

Strategic team leadership, organizational effectiveness, and leadership of technical teams and engineering organizations.

    Digital Engineering and Smart Manufacturing

Artificial intelligence, informatics, cybersecurity, additive manufacturing, smart manufacturing, robotics, Internet of Things, simulation, and digital twins.

Experience teaching or leading professionals in online, graduate, or continuing-education settings is especially valued.

    Preferred qualifications

We particularly welcome experienced engineering and technical professionals who can bring current workplace practice into the online classroom. Prior college teaching is not required. Preferred candidates will have at least a master's degree in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related field and approximately five or more years of relevant professional experience. These are preferred qualifications, not absolute minimums; comparable combinations of advanced education, professional licensure, specialized expertise, leadership, industry experience, and teaching will be considered. Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, and/or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus. Experience with online teaching, graduate education, professional education, or workforce training is also valued.

    Application and employment requirements

    How to apply

All applications and application materials must be submitted through Alvernia University's ADP employment portal for the specific adjunct pool posting. Submit a current resume or curriculum vitae and a brief letter of interest identifying the courses or subject areas you believe you are qualified to teach. Do not email application materials. Email inquiries are welcome, but a formal application through ADP is required for consideration.

    Work authorization

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to accept employment with Alvernia University without current or future employer sponsorship.

    Questions and inquiries

Prospective applicants may contact Dr. Joseph M. Mahoney, Chair of the John R. Post School of Engineering, at [email protected] with questions about the School, the adjunct pool, or potential teaching needs. Application materials must be submitted through ADP and should not be emailed.

    Equal employment opportunity

Alvernia University is an equal-opportunity employer committed to Franciscan values. People of all faith backgrounds, as well as people with no faith affiliation, are welcome and encouraged to apply.
