    Job Description

At Ameriprise Financial, Columbia Threadneedle Investments, and RiverSource, we're committed to helping early-career talent grow through meaningful work and practical learning. Whether you're joining us as an Intern or Leadership Development Program participant, you'll work alongside experienced colleagues, contribute fresh perspectives, and gain exposure to the people, projects, and experiences that drive our business forward. Guided by our values of excellence in all we do and respect for individuals and our communities, participants will have opportunities to connect with Executive Leadership through our ELT Speaker Series, gaining insights from senior leaders across the business, while also making a positive impact through our annual volunteering day.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills, expand your network, and explore what's possible across a global financial services organization.
    About the Role:
Are you ready to launch your career with a FORTUNE 500® company that helps people feel confident about their financial future? The Ameriprise Financial Business Development - Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a 24-month rotational experience designed to help recent graduates build leadership skills, gain hands-on business experience, and explore career paths in financial services.
Through three 8-month rotations, you’ll work on real projects that impact the business, connect with senior leaders, and receive mentorship and training to support your growth. At the end of the program, you’ll be well-positioned to apply for a full-time role within Ameriprise’s business development organizations.
The Service & Operations team supports the analysis of business processes and works at developing solutions to best support the organization. As an Operations LDP, you will work with team members to support the following areas:
    • Service Delivery
    • Clearing Operations
    • Risk Management
    • Advisor, Client, and Employee Experience
    • Voice of the Customer
    • Service Tool and Workflow Design
    • Data Management
    • Vendor Management
After exploring the breadth of the business unit(s) through each rotation, LDPs may have the opportunity to post to a permanent position within Ameriprise Financial.

    What Makes This Program Unique:

    • Real Experience: You’ll work on meaningful projects that contribute to the success of the business
    • Professional Growth: You’ll build leadership skills through hands-on learning, mentorship, and formal training
    • Supportive Environment: You’ll be part of a collaborative, inclusive team and have access to leaders who want to see you succeed
    • Career Pathways: Upon completion, you’ll be considered for full-time roles that match your interests and strengths

    How you’ll spend your time…

Responsibilities may vary based on current rotation and assigned project(s), and typically include:

    • Supporting sales initiatives by assisting with advisor outreach, lead generation, and follow-up activities
    • Collaborating with team members to improve sales processes and enhance the overall advisor experience
    • Conducting basic data analysis to identify sales trends and opportunities for growth
    • Helping troubleshoot advisor issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
    • Contributing to program strategy and execution
    • Contributing to reporting efforts, tracking performance metrics and preparing summaries for leadership

    Required Qualifications:

    • Current Senior at a 4-year university pursing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, or related field
    • Graduation date of December 2026 or May/June 2027
    • Demonstrated leadership experience
    • Commitment to complete the full 24-month Leadership Development Program

If you also had this, it would be great:

    • Strong self-motivation and a results-driven mindset, with a commitment to ethical sales practices
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple advisor interactions and priorities
    • Clear and confident communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with leadership to support sales goals and advisor needs
    • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite to track leads, prepare presentations, and analyze sales data
