Wood Shop Lead Technician - CTR

Job Summary:

The Wood Shop Lead Technician is an advancement position requiring advanced knowledge of millwork standards and practices. A thorough working knowledge of carpentry or construction experience is expected. The Wood Shop Lead Technician will primarily focus on the fabrication of the various parts necessary to create finished carpentry products and then assemble them, including but not limited to:

· Millwork

· Furniture and

· Decorative Pieces

The Wood Shop Lead Technician will also be expected to work with and train less experienced Wood Shop workers.

Essential Duties:

· The manufacturing of finished carpentry and furniture.

· Teaching lower level technicians the skills necessary to work in the Wood Shop.

· Work diligently to meet strict design specifications and premium aesthetic quality standards.

· Collect reports from lower level technicians regarding the inventory and inform the Supervisor when purchasing materials and supplies may be necessary.

· Maintain and clean all tools and equipment.

· Ensure that their work area (and adjacent work areas) are kept clean.

· Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing OSHA regulations, PPE compliance, and machine guarding.

· Attends workshops, meetings, and training as requested by Furniture Shop Manager.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required:

· High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) or equivalent training or work experience.

· Technical Skills: Skilled in the use of powered and non-powered tools and equipment.

· Ability to follow directions and respect leadership.

· All other duties as assigned.

Certifications or Licenses:

Required:

· Current valid CPR and First Aid certification.

· Current valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle for the occasional material transport or site visits.

Skills/Abilities:

· Minimal knowledge of contemporary substance abuse treatment practices in a residential setting.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of empathy.

· Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectively under pressure generated through association with our students.

· Proficient with basic computer skills including familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite products

Work Conditions:

· Generally, in an indoor setting but may work outdoors.

· Works in outdoor elements such as heat, precipitation and wind.

· Will be working with commercial equipment and tools powered and non-powered.

Environmental Conditions:

· The noise level in the work environment is moderate loud to loud (70-90 dB).

· The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate to cool but can be cold.

Travel:

· May travel locally as needed.
