    Staff Design Evaluation Engineer

    Location: Limerick, Ireland

Business Unit: Precision Signal Chain, Back-End Measurement Team

    The Group:

The charter of ADI's Precision Signal Chain (PSC) organisation is to deliver industry-leading precision measurement, signal conditioning and isolation solutions that bridge the physical and digital worlds. PSC products enable accurate sensing, measurement and control across a broad range of instrumentation, industrial automation, healthcare and emerging intelligent edge applications. The PSC Back-End Measurement Team plays a critical role in bringing these technologies from concept to high-volume production through world-class test and evaluation solutions.

The team develop precision mixed-signal products across the signal chain, including analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs), micromodules, and application-specific standard products (ASSPs). The breadth of product technologies, performance targets, and use cases creates a varied engineering environment focused on resolution, noise, speed, power, and robustness offering the successful candidate a great opportunity for continuous career development as part of a highly motivated and supportive team.

    The Position:

The Precision Signal Chain Back-End (PSC BE) Measurement Team at Analog Devices is seeking an experienced Staff Design Evaluation Engineer to join the team in Limerick, Ireland.

This position is intended for an experienced lead engineer with deep semiconductor measurement expertise and the ability  turn new mixed-signal silicon into thoroughly understood, product-ready solutions. You will own meaningful parts of the Design Evaluation lifecycle, from defining evaluation strategy and measurement needs through developing hardware and software capability, characterising silicon, analysing results, identifying root causes, and influencing product decisions

You will work closely with Design, Test, Product Engineering, Applications and Quality teams from the concept stage through product release. Scope will be matched to the successful candidate’s experience, with opportunities to lead project evaluation, provide technical leadership across multiple development programmes, defining and driving new measurement strategies for precision mixed-signal products while influencing product execution, measurement methodologies and engineering best practices across the wider PSC Back-End organisation

This role may require occasional travel to ADI development sites, manufacturing locations and customer facilities to support product development, technology transfer and technical engagements (typically up to 10%).

    Role and Responsibilities:

    • Lead the definition and execution of evaluation strategies, test coverage, measurement methods, and success criteria for new precision mixed-signal converter products in collaboration with Design, Applications, Test, and Design Evaluation teams from concept through production release.
    • Lead technical reviews, identify development timelines and risks and drive mitigation plans across projects.
    • Develop and integrate the hardware, software, automation, fixtures, and data-analysis capability required to evaluate new products.
    • Perform bench-level performance and robustness measurements with careful experimental setup, data integrity, and repeatability and be bale to analyse and post-process the data, interpret results, document conclusions, and communicate product performance clearly to technical stakeholders and if required to customers.
    • Investigate functional or performance limitations, isolate contributing factors, and drive root-cause understanding with cross-functional teams.
    • Influence product, design and test decisions through deep understanding of measurement systems, measurement methodologies and product requirements.
    • Provide technical leadership across multiple product programmes, mentor engineers and drive continuous advancement of measurement methodologies, reusable frameworks and engineering best practices across the PSC and ADI Back-End organisation.

    Scope by Career Level:

Strong independent technical execution. Owns substantial Design Evaluation work, solves complex bench and silicon problems, develops reliable measurement capability, manages assigned priorities, and collaborates effectively across functions. May lead Design Evaluation for a product or workstream and support less-experienced engineers.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
    • Relevant professional experience in the semiconductor industry with significant experience in mixed-signal measurement, silicon Design Evaluation, Test development, or a comparable role. The depth, complexity, and leadership scope of experience will be assessed against the Staff or Principal level.
    • Strong technical foundation in mixed-signal electronics, with the ability to understand converter performance and translate product requirements into effective evaluation work.
    • Demonstrated hands-on problem solving, including structured analysis of measurement results and investigation of silicon functional or performance limitations.
    • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence decision-making across multiple engineering disciplines.
    • Strong knowledge of precision analog and mixed-signal circuits & measurement techniques.
    • Excellent analytical, communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to solve complex engineering challenges through data-driven decision making.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Hands-on experience with bench measurement equipment used for mixed-signal or precision converter products such as ADCs, DACs, amplifiers, references or power management devices.
    • Familiarity with mixed-signal hardware development including evaluation systems, PCB design and layout and associated CAD/simulation tools.
    • Experience with DFT methodologies, simulation-based development, virtual environments or pre-silicon verification.
    • Experience correlating bench, evaluation and ATE measurement environments to ensure robust product characterisation and production readiness.
    • Experience developing automated measurement or data-analysis solutions using LabVIEW, C#, Python, or a comparable programming environment.
    • Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, project leadership or communicating technical results to customers, senior stakeholders or engineering communities.

    Why This Role:

This is an opportunity to work at the point where mixed-signal design intent meets measured silicon performance. You will have direct ownership of how new products are evaluated, build the measurement capability needed to answer difficult technical questions, and turn complex data into decisions that affect product readiness and direction.

The role offers a balance of deep hands-on engineering and broader influence. Depending on level and experience, you can grow your impact through project leadership, mentoring, customer communication, development of new evaluation methods, and worldwide improvement initiatives while remaining close to the bench and the silicon.
