Position Summary
APIC Solutions is seeking an experienced Field AV Technician/Installer to join our growing commercial integration team. In this role, you will build, wire, install, and deploy enterprise-class AV and unified communications systems in government, higher education, and corporate environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with industry-leading platforms (Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure), strong installation skills, and a solid understanding of commercial AV infrastructure and networking. You will work closely with project managers, field engineers, programmers, and clients to deliver high-quality workplace technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Integration & Installation
- Install and integrate Crestron control processors and NVX endpoints
- Deploy Q-SYS cores, peripherals, and networked audio systems
- Install and support Biamp Tesira DSP platforms and related hardware
- Install fixed lens and PTZ cameras for conference and presentation environments
- Install beamforming microphone arrays, analog microphones, and wireless microphone systems
- Assist with system commissioning and hardware integration across enterprise environments
Enterprise Hardware Installation
- Mount and secure large-format displays and interactive displays
- Install motorized projection systems and projection screens
- Assemble and deploy multi-panel video walls
- Install intelligent camera tracking and conferencing systems
- Ensure all installations meet structural and safety requirements
Networked Audio Deployment
- Install and cable beamforming ceiling microphones
- Deploy Dante-enabled amplifiers and networked audio endpoints
- Install PoE and PoE+ ceiling speaker systems
- Support audio system testing and verification
- Troubleshoot networked audio infrastructure
Commercial Cabling & Termination
- Pull plenum-rated low-voltage cabling through ceilings, walls, and conduit systems
- Terminate and test RJ45 connectors, shielded Cat6 cabling, Phoenix connectors, and RS232 connections
- Label and document all installed cable infrastructure according to project standards
- Maintain cable management best practices
- Verify signal integrity and cable performance
Rack Building & Equipment Installation
- Build and wire enterprise AV equipment racks
- Maintain clean, organized cable management practices
- Follow engineered drawings and rack elevations for system assembly
- Ensure installations meet company quality standards and client expectations
- Document completed installations for client handoff
System Testing & Support
- Assist with loading Crestron, Biamp, and Q-SYS configuration files
- Verify network connectivity, IP addressing, and system communication
- Troubleshoot signal flow, audio, video, and control system issues
- Perform final testing, quality assurance checks, and system verification
- Conduct client handoff procedures and training
- Provide post-installation technical support
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, field engineers, and programmers
- Communicate with clients regarding installation progress and technical requirements
- Coordinate with other team members on multi-site deployments
- Report issues and solutions to project leadership
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and vendors

Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of commercial AV integration experience
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following platforms: Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure
- Proven track record of successful enterprise AV installations
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of AV signal flow and commercial AV infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret AV schematics, line drawings, rack elevations, and construction documents
- Familiarity with Dante, Q-LAN, and AES67 audio networking standards
- Knowledge of corporate AV environments, Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), and Zoom Rooms
- Understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) fundamentals
Networking
- Foundational knowledge of IP networking, subnets, and VLANs
- Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting
- Understanding of networked AV infrastructure and connectivity requirements
Installation Skills
- Experience mounting equipment to metal and wood stud walls, concrete surfaces, and commercial construction materials
- Familiarity with drop tile and hard-lid ceiling installations
- Knowledge of proper anchoring and installation techniques
- Ability to work safely with various mounting systems and hardware
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and position equipment weighing up to 60 lbs
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work overhead for extended periods
- Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and motorized scissor lifts
- Ability to work safely in active construction environments
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Reliable transportation
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel to project sites as required
- Flexibility to work out of town, evenings, and weekend hours to support customer schedules and system cutovers
- Must be able to pass criminal background checks and drug tests
- Strong work ethic and commitment to quality
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification
- Crestron technical training or certification pathway completion
- Q-SYS Level 1 or Level 2 certification
- Biamp Tesira training and certification
- Shure Certifications (Microphone or platform-specific)
- OSHA 10 certification
- Experience with additional AV platforms or manufacturers
- Project management or coordination experience
- Networking certifications or training
