Position Summary
APIC Solutions is seeking a skilled Low Voltage Technician to support the installation, termination, testing, and maintenance of low voltage systems including structured cabling, access control, video surveillance (CCTV), and audio-visual (AV) systems. This role supports projects from rough-in through commissioning and may work under supervision or independently depending on experience level and project requirements. You will follow industry standards, safety practices, and project specifications while delivering high-quality installations. As you gain experience, you may assist with troubleshooting, mentor junior staff, and lead small task teams.
Key Responsibilities
Structured Cabling Installation & Termination
- Pull, route, and secure copper and fiber optic cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coax, and fiber)
- Install cable support infrastructure including J-hooks, cable tray, conduit, sleeves, and backboards
- Terminate copper cabling on keystone jacks and patch panels
- Assist with or perform fiber termination (based on experience level)
- Perform cable testing and certification using appropriate test equipment
- Ensure proper labeling, grounding, bend radius, and separation requirements
- Support rack builds, cable management, and documentation
- Assist with troubleshooting cabling issues and signal quality problems
- Maintain cable inventory and order supplies as needed
Access Control Systems Installation
- Pull, label, and terminate cabling for access control devices
- Install and wire electric strikes, maglocks, and power supplies
- Mount and connect access control devices, control panels, and cabinets
- Assist with or perform testing, verification, and commissioning of access control systems
- Troubleshoot basic access control hardware and wiring issues
- Ensure proper installation according to manufacturer specifications
- Document access control system configurations and installations
Video Surveillance (CCTV) Installation
- Pull and terminate camera cabling
- Install IP cameras, mounts, housings, and back boxes
- Perform camera aiming, focusing, and adjustment for optimal coverage
- Assist with NVR and head-end equipment installation and configuration
- Troubleshoot camera, power, and network connectivity issues
- Verify camera functionality and image quality
- Assist with system testing and commissioning
Audio-Visual (AV) Systems Installation
- Install displays, video walls, projectors, and projection screens
- Install speakers, microphones, control panels, and wall plates
- Pull, terminate, and dress AV cabling
- Assemble racks and perform professional cable management
- Assist with integration, testing, and commissioning of AV systems
- Support system programming and configuration
- Troubleshoot basic AV system issues
General Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 0–5 years of low voltage installation experience (entry-level candidates welcome)
- Demonstrated ability to learn technical skills quickly
Technical Skills
- Understanding of basic electrical theory and low voltage systems
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation plans
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools commonly used in installation work
- Familiarity with cabling standards and best practices
- Ability to terminate and test low voltage cabling

Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Installer or Technician certification
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or CTS-I certification
- Fiber optic termination experience and expertise
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Manufacturer training or certification (Lenel, Verkada, Avigilon, Axis, Crestron, Extron, etc.)
- Experience with network administration basics
- Previous construction or installation experience
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification
- Electrical apprenticeship background
- Experience with building information modeling (BIM)
Required Software/Systems
- Low voltage testing equipment (multimeter, cable tester, network analyzer)
- Hand and power tools (appropriate for low voltage installation)
- Cabling termination tools and equipment
- Microsoft Office Suite (basic proficiency)
