Risk Associate
Role Overview
We are seeking a Risk Associate with 3 – 5 years of relevant experience, primarily in Operational Risk, to support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the firm's risk management framework.
The ideal candidate will have strong practical knowledge of Operational Risk Management, including incident reporting, Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), risk registers, key risk indicators (KRIs), risk assessments, and operational risk reporting.
Good knowledge of other risk disciplines, including Market Risk, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, and Investment Risk, would be an advantage. Experience within a capital markets, brokerage, asset management, or trading environment is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Operational Risk Management Framework, including policies, procedures, controls, and reporting.
- Coordinate the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process with relevant business and support functions.
- Identify, assess, document, and monitor operational risks across the business.
- Maintain and monitor the operational risk register and ensure identified risks and control gaps are appropriately tracked and followed up.
- Coordinate the reporting and escalation of operational risk incidents, including financial and non-financial losses.
- Perform root-cause analysis of operational risk incidents and follow up on agreed corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and other operational risk metrics.
- Assist in preparing regular operational risk reports for senior management and relevant Risk Committees.
- Support risk awareness initiatives and communicate risk management requirements to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the Risk team in monitoring Market, Credit, Liquidity, and Investment Risk exposures.
- Develop a good understanding of the firm's risk limits, policies, and risk appetite across different risk categories.
- Assist with risk analysis, monitoring, and reporting across financial risk areas.
- Support risk assessments relating to new products, business activities, and regulatory requirements.
- Good understanding of general risk management principles and the role of the three lines of defence.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience with risk reporting and data analysis tools.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as FRM, CFA, PRM, or equivalent are an advantage.
