Overview

We are looking to recruit an Underwriter to join our growing Real Estate team in our Chichester office.

Our team is collaborative, ambitious, and committed to delivering exceptional service and underwriting expertise to our clients and broker partners. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will be responsible for assessing and underwriting a diverse portfolio of Real Estate risks while contributing to the continued growth and success of the business.

How you'll make an impact

• Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with brokers, colleagues, and key stakeholders to deliver an exceptional service experience. You'll build and maintain strong relationships, provide underwriting expertise, and manage multiple priorities while supporting the continued growth and success of the Real Estate portfolio.
• Underwriting & Risk Assessment: Assess and underwrite new and existing Real Estate risks in line with underwriting guidelines, delegated authority levels, and business objectives. You'll analyse risk information, evaluate exposures, determine appropriate terms, and make sound underwriting decisions while maintaining underwriting profitability and discipline.
• Portfolio Development & Quotation Management: Support the development and growth of the Real Estate portfolio by identifying new business opportunities, managing renewals, preparing quotations, and negotiating terms with brokers. You'll work collaboratively to retain and grow profitable business while delivering solutions that meet client needs.
• Policy Administration & Customer Service: Ensure all underwriting activity is completed accurately and compliantly, including policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and documentation. You'll handle day-to-day broker queries, maintain underwriting records, and provide a high level of service while ensuring adherence to regulatory and delegated authority requirements.

About you

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and keen to learn. The ideal candidate will demonstrate many of the following skills and attributes:

• Previous underwriting experience within the insurance market, ideally within Property, Real Estate, Commercial or related lines of business.
• Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment techniques, policy coverage, and insurance products.
• Ability to analyse complex information, evaluate risk exposures, and make sound commercial underwriting decisions.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, insurers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Commercially minded with an understanding of portfolio performance, growth objectives, and market dynamics.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to work independently while contributing positively to team success.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Progress towards or willingness to study for professional insurance qualifications (e.g. CII) would be advantageous.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
