    Job description

This opportunity is open to candidates who are residing in the Netherlands, UK or Germany.  Qualified candidates from North America could also be considered.

The Director, Product Management – Life Cycle Assessment is responsible for the vision, strategy, roadmap, and business outcomes for Assent’s LCA capabilities.  This leader translates customer needs, life cycle assessment methodologies, evolving standards, market opportunities, and technical constraints into scalable B2B SaaS solutions.

This individual will lead and develop a team of Product Managers and work closely with sustainability and LCA subject-matter experts, Engineering, Data, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success. The Director will ensure that product decisions balance scientific credibility, customer usability, technical feasibility, commercial value, and the transparency and traceability required for defensible environmental information.  This includes identifying opportunities to responsibly apply AI and machine learning to improve data collection, classification, calculation workflows, insight generation, and customer decision-making, while maintaining appropriate transparency, validation, human oversight, and scientific integrity.

The successful candidate combines strong product leadership with practical LCA knowledge, enabling them to challenge methodology decisions and communicate credibly with practitioners and customers.

    Key Requirements & Responsibilities

    • Define the LCA product portfolio strategy, objectives, and investment priorities in alignment with Assent’s corporate strategy, customer needs, and commercial growth objectives
    • Own the success of Assent’s LCA solution, including customer value, adoption, commercial performance, methodological credibility, and integration with Assent’s broader platform
    • Build strategic relationships with customers, LCA practitioners, consultants, data providers, and industry partners to generate market insight, anticipate emerging needs, validate product priorities, and help shape product strategy and roadmap decisions
    • Ensure LCA capabilities provide appropriate calculation transparency, data lineage, source attribution, version control, quality indicators, and audit trails so that customers can understand and substantiate their results
    • Provide product leadership across end-to-end delivery, partnering with Engineering and Quality Assurance to ensure releases are timely, high-quality, and aligned with customer needs, product strategy, and business objectives
    • Define and monitor product success measures, including customer adoption, time to value, data coverage and quality, calculation completion, customer confidence, retention, expansion, and commercial performance
    • Monitor relevant LCA standards, methodologies, regulatory requirements, and market developments; assess their implications and translate them into product strategy, data requirements, roadmap priorities, and scalable software capabilities
    • Develop and evaluate business cases for LCA product investments using customer evidence, competitive analysis, data and methodology dependencies, delivery costs, commercial opportunities, and product risks
    • In collaboration with Marketing, Sales and Customer Success, establish go-to-market strategy for new products, including pricing, positioning and growth plans
    • Recruit, lead, coach, develop, and retain an engaged team of Product Managers, fostering accountability, continuous learning, and consistently strong performance
    • Establish clear goals, operating processes, and accountability for team execution; monitor progress, manage risks, and address barriers to achieving objectives
    • Lead evidence-based prioritization of product capabilities and build stakeholder alignment from discovery and validation through development, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement
    • Establish and coach the team on consistent product management practices, including discovery, user research, experimentation, delivery, and release management

We strongly value your talent, energy and passion. It will also be valuable to Assent if you have the following qualifications:

    • Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in product management, environmental science, sustainability, engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline
    • 10+ years of progressive product management experience, particularly in a B2B SaaS environment.
    • 5+ years of leadership experience in a rapidly growing organization.
    • Demonstrated professional experience applying LCA concepts and methodologies or leading software products that support LCA or related sustainability calculations, including the ability to evaluate and explain trade-offs involving system boundaries, functional units, allocation approaches, data sources, data quality, uncertainty, impact methods, and calculation transparency.
    • Experience leading AI-enabled product capabilities, with an understanding of use-case selection, data readiness, technical feasibility, and responsible AI practices.
    • Experience leading technically complex, data-intensive B2B SaaS products, with a strong understanding of databases, software development, quality assurance, calculation engines, data lineage, and auditable reporting
    • Strategic, business-minded people leader with a track record of developing teams and delivering organizational and commercial outcomes.
    • Exceptional communication, influence, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across executive, technical, scientific, customer, and partner groups.
    • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and guide teams toward practical, scalable solutions.
    • Proven ability to translate complex sustainability and regulatory requirements (e.g., EU Ecodesign, Digital Product Passports) into strategic, scalable product offerings.
    • Ability to segment markets by verticals, define value and drive growth accordingly.
