Attalon is a leading technology partner to the global aerospace and defense industry, specializing in the physics of light and heat. With over 500 employees in the U.S., Attalon engineers critical optical, laser, and coating technologies that enable systems to see farther, target faster, and survive the harshest environments. From high-energy directed laser systems to satellite optics and hypersonic thermal protection, Attalon equips the warfighter with the advantage of precision.

Attalon, located in Northeast Philadelphia, specializes in the manufacture of precision patterned optics, calibration grids, reticles, and specialty patterned products for the commercial and defense markets. The Philadelphia site is located in close proximity to major highways and transportation hubs, providing easy access to the surrounding Bucks County and Center City Philadelphia areas. The Greater Philadelphia area is a dynamic economic hub that combines world-class healthcare, education, and industrial sectors with rich cultural heritage and diverse communities, making it an ideal region for both career advancement and quality living.

    Job Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst will serve as the dedicated financial planning and analysis resource for Attalon's Coatings segment, supporting the segment's budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting processes. Reporting to the Director of FP&A, this role works hands-on with Coatings program management, operations, and engineering teams to deliver timely, detailed financial analysis that informs day-to-day decisions and segment performance. This is a high-visibility, hands-on role with direct exposure to segment leadership and an opportunity to grow within the FP&A function of a growing, PE-backed aerospace and defense company.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the full cycle of annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly close reporting for the Coatings segment.
    • Build and maintain detailed financial models supporting program cost analysis, cost structure reviews, and segment-level planning.
    • Prepare and maintain variance analysis that provides clear, actionable explanations of Coatings financial results to segment and finance leaders.
    • Partner directly with Coatings program managers and operations teams on program-level financial tracking, including hands-on EAC review and margin analysis.
    • Build and maintain Coatings-level reports and contribute to the Power BI dashboards and Power Query data pipelines used for management reporting, working hands-on with the underlying data rather than owning the enterprise reporting environment.
    • Support the ongoing IFS Cloud ERP transition by helping ensure Coatings reporting structures and data models map correctly to analytical and planning needs.
    • Prepare materials for Coatings segment business reviews and support the consolidated materials for board and investor reporting led by the FP&A Director.
    • Help develop and track KPIs and financial performance metrics that connect Coatings operational execution to financial outcomes.
    • Support ad hoc financial analysis and finance initiatives as directed by the FP&A Director.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
    • 7+ years of progressive FP&A or financial analysis experience
    • Strong hands-on financial modeling capability with advanced proficiency in Excel, including Power Query.
    • Working experience with BI platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
    • Demonstrated ability to partner with engineering, operations, or program management teams.
    • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving processes and priorities.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with government contract accounting concepts including cost-plus and fixed-price contract structures, ASC 606, and backlog reporting.
    • Experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing environment.
    • Exposure to program-level financial reporting including EAC processes and program margin analysis.
    • Experience supporting or participating in an ERP implementation or migration.
    • CMA, CPA, or progress toward one a plus.

    What Success Looks Like

In the near term, a successful candidate will quickly develop command of the Coatings segment's reporting tools and financial processes, establish strong working relationships with program and operations teams, and contribute to planning cycles and variance analysis with limited direction. Over time, this person will become a trusted financial partner to the Coatings business and build the depth of experience that positions them for advancement within the FP&A function as Attalon continues to scale.
