Aviagen Turkeys Inc. is hiring service crew team members!Job Description:
Service Crew members perform a variety of flock management activities, including but not limited to:
Report to the designated company location each workday and travel with the service crew to assigned farm locations.
Vaccinate, tag, weigh, move, and handle birds according to company procedures and animal welfare standards.
Catch and transfer birds for movement between pens or facilities.
Assist with flock health activities by observing birds for signs of illness, injury, abnormal behavior, or mortality and report concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Perform general flock care and support activities as assigned.
Assist with pen setup, cleanout, and preparation for incoming flocks.
Adhere to all company biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures to protect flock health and maintain regulatory compliance.
Properly operate, clean, and maintain equipment used by the service crew.
Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
Communicate effectively with Farm Managers, supervisors, and fellow team members regarding daily activities and concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Reliable transportation to report to the designated company location each workday.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to perform repetitive work while maintaining attention to detail.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays based on operational needs.
Animal husbandry or agricultural experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, grip, and twist throughout the workday.
Ability to routinely and repeatedly lift, carry, push, or pull 50 to 60 pounds throughout the workday.
Ability to repeatedly handle and lift live turkeys weighing up to 50 to 60 pounds during activities such as vaccination, movement, and flock management.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, dusty, damp, wet, and noisy agricultural environments.
Ability to work around live poultry, farm related odors, dust, disinfectants, and other agricultural chemicals.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all biosecurity requirements.
