2nd Shift Manufacturing Test Engineering Supervisor - Position Summary
The 2nd shift Manufacturing Test Engineering Supervisor leads a team of test and manufacturing engineers responsible for supporting production test processes, equipment, and product quality. This role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing test systems to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The supervisor partners closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Development teams to drive productivity, resolve technical issues, and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and develop a team of test engineers and technicians supporting manufacturing operations.
- Lead daily test engineering activities to ensure production goals, quality targets, and delivery commitments are achieved.
- Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis of product, process, and test equipment failures.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing test processes, procedures, and documentation.
- Oversee installation, qualification, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production test equipment and automated test systems.
- Ensure robust test coverage and process controls are implemented to maintain product quality and reliability.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including yield, test cycle time, equipment uptime, and first-pass success rates.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Design Engineering teams to improve manufacturability, testability, and product performance.
- Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities and support customer and internal audits as required.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to reduce cost and increase operational efficiency.
- Manage project priorities, resource allocation, and staffing plans to support changing business needs.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring successful transition from development to production.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and performance management for direct reports.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of manufacturing test engineering experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience with automated test equipment, production troubleshooting, and manufacturing process control.
- Strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies, statistical process control (SPC), and continuous improvement principles.
- Proficient reading complex schematics and drawings.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor equipment, electronics manufacturing, or complex electromechanical systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Design for Testability (DFT) principles.
- Experience with data analysis tools, test software development, and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
- Experience with Minitab, Creo, AutoCAD, LabView, and TestStand

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE
$95,216.00 - $142,824.00
This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.
Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on
multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work
location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as
you develop within the role.
Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the
Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular
employees working 20+ hours a week).
