Main Accountabilities
- Manage the development of regulatory reporting requirements for site operations including quarterly and annual reporting requirements under the commercial lease and water license
- Liaise with Government and official bodies on project development, on-going construction and closure
- Attend regulatory and community meetings, as
- Develop, manage and ensure completion of the Annual Work Plan
- Work with operations and finance to develop annual security requirements
- Ensure that the Interim Closure Plan is up to date and meets regulatory requirements
- Support the refinement of the Environmental Management System for site operations
- Provide the training and education materials for Baffinland employees to ensure proper communication of regulatory requirements in day to day construction and operational activities.
- Foster positive business relationships and build appropriate contact between NGOs, communities and company
- Develop and present community consultation materials including presentations, posters, brochures,
- Participate in website content and branding initiatives for Sustainable
- Support Baffinland participation in technical conferences and industry
Main Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in environmental science, engineering or related field (a graduate degree in sustainability, environmental science or engineering would be an asset).
- 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience in the environmental engineering, sustainable development or environmental field.
- Previous experience in regulatory reporting, permit development and closure security
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients and consultants.
- Ability to communicate and interact with government officials (both verbally and in writing).
- Ability to effectively communicate with Inuit
- Experienced in mining operations.
