The Fluids Laboratory Chemist/Chemical Engineering ensures Baker Hughes can deliver flawless execution through the involvement in pre-planning, job execution and post-job analysis. This position delivers Drilling and Completion Fluids Lab testing, Quality testing based on API standards and suppliers and baker Hughes standards, and Analytical work to support product and systems design, project troubleshooting and performance analysis

As a Senior Laboratory Technician - Drilling & Completion Fluids, you will be responsible for: 

• Performing pilot testing on drilling and completion fluids on proposed mud program recipes and actual field mud and/or brine samples, when required.

• Performing QA/QC on proposed materials as per API Specs 13A, API RP 13B, API RP 13J, API RP 13I, OCMA, ANSI and ISO 13500-2009 latest edition testing procedures or as materials manufacturer’s recommended QA/QC testing procedures and preparation of Certificate of Analysis (CoA).

• Repairing, maintaining and calibrating onshore and rig site testing equipment.
• Running permeability return and core flow tests to evaluate and select optimum mud cake breaker formulation.

• Running PPA/PPT (permeability Plugging Apparatus/Test), laser PSD (Particle Size Distribution) analyser to evaluate and design RDF (Reservoir Drill-In fluids) and Low invasion Coring Fluids.

• Monitoring and maintaining safe stock level of al lab consumables and spare parts for smooth operations.

To be successful in this role you will: 

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering

• Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in drilling & completion fluids, working in a Mud Lab as a Chemist or Mud lab technician. Practical Mud Engineering experience is preferred.

• Be fiscally fit to travel and work offshore when required.
• Have thorough understanding of the Drilling and Completion Fluids product line and technical job planning requirements.
• Have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Have the ability to work independently.
