Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Assistant Vice President Expectations
- Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
- Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.

Join Barclays as a Senior Java Developer, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence. In this role, you will actively contribute to various projects spanning across critical technical deliveries, regulatory projects and platform enhancements requested by the product owner or business users.
To be successful as a Senior Java Developer you should have:
- Core Java SE 8+ in a commercial environment including experience with JDBC, multi-threading and messaging, XML processing, etc.
- Design patterns, object-oriented design principles and database design fundamentals
- Spring ecosystem, Hibernate or alternative J2EE technologies
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Experience with Middleware including MQ & JMS and Web Service (SOAP & REST API)
- Knowledge of Linux-based systems and UNIX scripting.
- Experience with DevOps, source control, unit and integration testing, continuous integration, release management, and other software development practices.

This role will be based in our Prague office.
Entry Salary: Kč 1,200,000.00
Upper Salary: Kč 1,683,000.00
The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
