    The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Processing Technical Services Department as Metallurgist – Met Accounting - Plant Metallurgy.  

    About the role

    The Metallurgist – Met Accounting  – Plant Metallurgy is responsible for metallurgical accounting and and reporting. The role focuses on generating daily, weekly and EOM reports, forecasting and budgeting, supporting Production Metallurgists to ensure production targets, recovery, safety, and quality standards are achieved. A candidate with strong experience of over 3 years in Met Accounting role is preferred with strong experience and understanding of the overall metallurgical process of the plant.
    This position works collaboratively with mining, geology, mill operations, mill maintenance, laboratory, and technical services teams to deliver on metal planning, forecasting and maintain reporting requirements.

    In this role, you will

        Collaborate with Production Metallurgists, Mining and Geology team to generate production forecasts and budget for the Processing Dept
        Complete Metallurgical Routine Activities (Daily, Weekly and Monthly)
        Support Production Metallurgists to conduct daily analysis of plant data, recoveries, throughput, and process efficiency .
        Participating in Gold Room Activities
        Prepare metallurgical reports, production summaries, and performance analyses.
        Maintain accurate metallurgical accounting and reporting systems.
        Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvement initiatives to optimize process efficiencies.
        Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for plant performance issues.
        Recommend operational adjustments to improve recovery, product quality, and plant stability.
        Work closely with maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and plant up time by maintaining accuracy of the downtime database and reporting.
        Support compliance with operating procedures and maintaining metallurgical accounting standards
        Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & procedures.

    To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience

    Qualifications & Experience:
        Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
        Experience in plant metallurgy or mineral processing operations.
        Knowledge of metallurgical accounting and plant performance monitoring.
        Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
        Proficiency in Microsoft Office and process data analysis tools.

    Mobilization Requirement

    This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Candidates must be PNG Nationals and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
