Barrington Orthopedic Specialists was established in 1980 with a philosophy of treating patients as you would want to be treated. The practice has remained as the premier orthopedic provider of the northwest Chicago suburbs, providing compassionate, individualized care for patients' bones, joints, and muscle injuries and conditions.
We are searching for a goal-oriented individual with insurance and customer service knowledge within the Business Office.
Scheduled Hours: Full-Time 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday: 7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:30am - 5:00pm
Job Duties:
- Customer service handles between 50-100 calls/messages per day
- Updates patient demographics, insurance or other account information, refiles claims as needed
- Answer patient account and insurance questions
- Collect payments, set up and manage budget and recurring payment plans
- Collect pre-service deposits from patients
- Obtain HMO referrals
- Manage card on file accounts
- Contact patients to collect self-pay balances
- Review and submit accounts that need to be sent to the collection agency, manage those accounts as needed
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
Requirements:
- Excellent customer services skills
- Understand payer explanation of benefits, co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, non-covered charges and insurance processing cycles
- Knowledge of electronic medical record and medical practice management systems
- Willing to work flexible hours
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Payer Websites
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional multi-tasking skills
Experience:
- Experience in high volume customer service
- Preferred experience in healthcare

Salary Range:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour depending on experience.
