POSITION SUMMARY: 

At Bartlett & West our architects combine design and technical abilities together with one informing the other. This position provides comprehensive architectural design, programming, and planning services (which includes sustainability initiatives and public engagement tasks), schematic/conceptual design, construction documents, and overall design coordination with internal clients (such as architects, engineers, surveyors, etc.) and external clients (private, public, etc.). This position is recognized as a conceptual, design, and technical specialist with an in-depth knowledge in focus area.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Creates architecture design in graphic design software program(s).
• Generates architectural design using AutoCAD/Revit software to produce construction plans and documents.
• Coordinates projects with internal clients, external clients, and multi-discipline team members.
• Creates conceptual designs leading to successive phases of development culminating in construction and occupancy.
• Participates in client meetings to gather client needs, present design concepts, and serve a resource/consultant to client(s).
• Contributes in all phases of project development, building planning, and coordinates team/project activities to address scope and schedule requirements.
• Provides creative and technical guidance to the project manager in developing an agreement for architecture services, including scope, fee structure, fee amount, schedule, and all other risk sharing/management provisions related to the portion of the project.
• Incorporates green/sustainability initiatives as appropriate.
• Provides mentoring and support to other architecture staff.
• Performs quality control on others’ work.
• Typically works with variety of projects that vary in size and scope. Maintains professional licensure in the states required by the company or works towards licensure if not already licensed.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in 3D rendering graphic software programs (Enscape, Lumion, Revit)

• Presentation skills with strong proficiency in presentation software programs.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree and/or master’s degree in Architecture curriculum required.

Experience:

5+ years’ experience in architecture with license preferred but not required.  Strong proficiency in MS Office, Enscape, Lumion, or other graphic software required.  AutoCAD/Revit design software skills also required. LEED and/or sustainable design experience preferred.

Travel Expectations:

This position will have minimal travel.  Must be able to travel in-state and out-of-state on occasion, which usually would consist of visiting other company locations, attending seminars or business meetings.  Minimum travel is 10-25% of the time depending on projects. Majority of travel involves day trips, but occasionally overnight trips may be required.
