ProtoTrak Lathe and Milling Machinist – Second Shift

This position will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining ProtoTrak lathe and milling machines to produce precision parts according to technical drawings and quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, proficiency in interpreting blueprints, and the ability to work independently to achieve production goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Produce precision quality parts machining a variety of materials to engineering specification (SS304, 316L, aluminum and a variety of plastics, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret prints.
• Review Production Status Report and complete orders as needed.
• Perform own setups.
• Punch job in ERP system
• Verifying final dimensions with print, by using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, fixtures and gauges.
• Perform preventative maintenance on shop equipment.
• Must understand and comply with all safety rules, Quality Management System and company policies.
• Promote customer focus

Skills:

• Program, set up, and operate ProtoTRAK lathes and milling machines using conversational controls
• Select proper speeds, feeds, and tooling for various materials
• Familiar with conversational programming
• Familiar with the metric system
• Ability to read and interpret prints
• Experience in turning lathe and mill
• Use and proficiently apply precision measuring tools

Competencies:

• Quick learner to become proficient with controls and creating plus editing conversational programs
• Sense for precision and quality, ability to spot, measure, and deliver exact standards in both physical measurements (dimensional precision) and appearance (visible quality)
• Work independently
• Highly dependable with an excellent attendance record is required

Requirements:

• 3 to 5 years of experience
• Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position

Education:

• High School Graduate or GED. Preferably from a vocational-technical high school, the completion of an apprenticeship program, or a community college/technical school training program.

Work Environment:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the manufacturing shop environment.

Position Type: This is a full-time (non-exempt/hourly) position. Compensation will range from $28 to $33 an hour, based on experience, plus a 15% second shift differential. Non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay at 1.5 times the calculated hourly rate for time worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

Hours: Second Shift, M-F, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm – Overtime is possible
