Your future role on our team
BBA is looking for a hydrology or hydraulics engineer with strong experience in water resource management. This role involves watershed studies, lake and river analyses and the quantitative and qualitative management of water resources.
You'll join a multidisciplinary team working on a variety of projects, including mining, municipal drainage, water treatment, road and rail transport infrastructure, and energy-related projects. Water management is a key issue in these projects and requires tailored approaches, methods and solutions for each mandate and context.
You’ll work closely with other BBA experts and clients to identify, design and implement the best solutions to manage these challenges.
Upon joining BBA, you’ll receive onboarding training, followed by training sessions on engineering and project management procedures as part of the onboarding process.
With us, you’ll get the opportunity to...
- Carry out hydrological studies, including watershed studies, hydrologic modelling, hydroclimatic statistical analyses, climate change impact assessments and evaluations of flood risks, impacts and adaptation measures
- Design hydraulic infrastructure such as dikes and dams, spillways, weirs, water intakes, ditches or canals, culverts, retention and detention ponds and pumping stations
- Carry out or oversee 1D, 2D and 3D hydraulic simulations, depending on project complexity, using industry-standard software such as HEC-RAS 1D/2D, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM or equivalent tools, as required
- Develop water and mass balance assessments, including accounting for inflows, losses, storage and transfers between surface water, groundwater and storage facilities
- Assess hydrologic conditions related to water quality, water treatment and environmental monitoring
- Design and instrument hydrometric monitoring stations
- Perform water-related calculations to support water treatment projects, including water balances, assessment of treatment flow rates, required treatment capacity and regulatory and operational constraints
- Perform risk analyses
- Perform dam and dike safety analyses, including breach scenarios, flood flood wave modelling, floodplain mapping and impact assessments to establish safety margins and risk management measures
- Participate in design reviews, prepare plans and specifications, write proposals and prepare permit and approval applications for government authorities
