- Act as in-charge on audits, overseeing junior staff to ensure work is performed in line with the BDO Audit Methodology and firm quality standards.
- Plan and coordinate engagements with management and the audit team, ensuring compliance with professional standards and appropriate risk assessment.
- Monitor engagement progress against plans, making adjustments where necessary.
- Maintain strong client relationships, act as the main day-to-day contact, and assess client satisfaction.
- Ensure high audit quality, setting a strong example and enforcing audit quality standards within the team.
- Review audit work and financial statements, including those of smaller entities within a group.
- Proactively manage billing, collections, and professional liability considerations.
- Effectively use audit technology tools and firm-standard software to enhance engagement delivery.
- Prepare high-quality client correspondence and communicate clearly within the audit team.
- Foster an efficient, innovative, and team-oriented working environment.
- Manage, motivate, coach, appraise, and identify training needs of staff.
- Delegate effectively, monitor progress, and obtain ongoing feedback from both team members and clients.
- Demonstrate strong project and time management skills across multiple engagements.
- Develop an understanding of client industries and identify value-added recommendations.
- Escalate ethical, independence, and conflict-of-interest matters to the Engagement Partner as required.
- Understand the Firm’s service lines and contribute to identifying opportunities to apply firm expertise.
- Take ownership of team output and perform any other duties within the scope of the role and skill set.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Fully qualified member of a recognised professional accounting body such as ACCA, ACA/CA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Holding, or being eligible to obtain, a Maltese Auditor’s Warrant / Practising Certificate is considered a strong asset.
- 4-5 years’ experience in an external audit environment, with progressive responsibility.
- Proven experience managing audit engagements from planning through to completion and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of audit teams.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound professional judgement.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and client-relationship management skills.
- Fluency in English is essential.
