Pharmacist - Part Time
We’re looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Pharmacist who wants to use their expertise in a setting where their work directly supports patients in recovery.
At BHG, you’ll be responsible for the safe preparation, dispensing, accountability, and security of medications used in the treatment of opioid use disorder. This is an opportunity to practice pharmacy in a specialized outpatient treatment environment with predictable hours and a strong focus on medication safety, regulatory compliance, and patient care.
Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings - early morning 5am - 1pm
Requirements
- Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety and accountability.
- Ability to maintain accurate medication, dispensing, inventory, and reconciliation records.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with clinical and operational team members.
- Interest in working with patients receiving treatment for substance use disorders.

What You’ll Do
Medication Management & Patient Safety
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately and safely in accordance with prescriptions, established pharmacy procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Prepare pre-dispensed medications for administration by Medication Nurses, including take-home medications.
- Maintain accurate patient dosing records and ensure appropriate documentation of pharmacy transactions.
- Support safe and compassionate patient care while maintaining medication security and accountability.
Inventory & Medication Accountability
- Maintain accurate medication inventory and complete daily reconciliation of medications dispensed against stock on hand.
- Conduct monthly inspections and inventory reconciliation of medication and drug storage areas.
- Receive and account for methadone shipments using established accountability protocols.
- Complete required DEA documentation, including DEA Form 222, for ordering and receiving methadone.
- Identify, investigate, document, and report medication discrepancies or irreconcilable events in accordance with company policy and DEA requirements.
- Maintain pharmacy and medical supply inventory and ensure medications are stocked and stored appropriately.
Compliance & Pharmacy Operations
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with BHG policies and applicable federal, state, DEA, pharmacy board, and accrediting requirements.
- Maintain required pharmacy documentation and ensure records are readily available for regulatory or DEA inspection.
- Maintain appropriate controls over pharmacy and medication access in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Protect patient confidentiality and medication information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Stay current on pharmaceutical regulations, opioid use disorder treatment practices, and required continuing education.
Collaboration & Patient Care
- Partner with Medication Nurses, the Program Director, Medical Director, and other members of the treatment team to support safe and effective medication services.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, trainings, and educational activities as needed.
- Build professional, respectful relationships with patients and team members.
- Demonstrate an understanding that addiction is a chronic brain disease and approach patients with hope, dignity, respect, and compassion.
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license in the applicable state.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication accountability, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and sound professional judgment.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond appropriately in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive patient information.
- Experience with controlled substances, DEA requirements, or opioid treatment programs is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Clinical environment with periods of increased activity.
- Regular interaction with individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders and behavioral health conditions.
- Ability to alternate between sitting and standing throughout the workday.
- Ability to perform duties requiring bending, stooping, and reaching as needed.
- Frequent keyboarding and computer use.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases and other conditions common to a healthcare environment.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
