Culinary - First Cook

We are currently hiring a First Cook to join our catering culinary team.

What will you be doing?
As a First Cook, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality food across a wide range of events and service styles. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated cook who thrives in a high-volume, team-driven environment and is looking to grow their leadership skills.

• Prepare, produce, and execute menu items for on-site and off-site catering events
• Plan and adapt to varying business levels and event demands
• Work across multiple kitchen stations with confidence and efficiency
• Lead by example and support the development of junior team members
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and proper mise en place
• Manage inventory, receiving, and storage of food products
• Follow standardized recipes and food safety protocols to ensure consistency and quality
• Minimize waste and contribute to food cost control
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiencies
• Maintain a safe, clean, and professional kitchen environment

What we're looking for

• Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution
• Minimum 1 year of post-graduate experience in a fast-paced kitchen
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• A positive, team-first attitude with leadership potential
• Passion for food, creativity, and continuous improvement
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Red Seal or Journeyman certification (asset, not required)

Physical requirements

• Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours)
• Comfortable working in hot and cold environments
