Building Envelope Specialist - Buildings East
The Building Envelope Specialist - Buildings East provides technical expertise and quality oversight for building envelope systems across a variety of commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and mixed-use construction projects. Working closely with project teams, consultants, and trade partners, this role supports the successful delivery of exterior wall assemblies, roofing, waterproofing, curtainwall, glazing, insulation, and air/vapour barrier systems from pre-construction through project completion.

What You Will Be Working On

• Provide technical expertise related to building envelope systems throughout design, pre-construction, and construction phases.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings for building envelope assemblies.
• Support project teams with constructability reviews and technical problem-solving.
• Conduct site visits and field reviews to verify quality, progress, and compliance with project requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues.
• Assist with quality assurance and quality control initiatives related to roofing, waterproofing, cladding, curtainwall, glazing, insulation, and air/vapour barrier systems.
• Help identify and mitigate building envelope risks during planning and construction.
• Participate in mock-up reviews, testing programs, commissioning activities, and deficiency management.
• Prepare technical reports, field observations, and project documentation.
• Support project pursuits by contributing technical expertise to proposals, RFQs, RFPs, and EOIs.
• Mentor project teams on building envelope best practices and lessons learned.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree or diploma in Building Science, Architectural Technology, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working with building envelope systems in construction, consulting, engineering, or building science environments.
• Knowledge of building envelope assemblies, curtainwall and glazing systems, roofing and waterproofing systems, cladding systems, air and vapour barriers, and thermal performance and moisture management principles.
• Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
