    Job description

Application Engineer / Project Engineer (Control Room Solutions) – EMEA (France/Belgium) – M/F

Location: France or Belgium (Hybrid; extensive travel in EMEA)

    Function: Application Engineering & Project Engineering (Pre‑Sales & Post‑Sales)

Experience: 5–10 years Engineering (KVM and/or Professional AV)

Travel: ~50% across EMEA, Mainly France and Belgium.

    Employment Type: Full-time

    Role Summary

We are seeking a driven Application Engineer / Project Engineer to support and deliver mission-critical control room solutions across EMEA, primarily in France and Belgium. You will engage end‑to‑end—from pre‑sales solution design and technical bidding to post‑sales delivery, commissioning, and customer handover. Your domain expertise in KVM, AV‑over‑IP, and professional AV will ensure our customers in utilities, transportation, security, broadcast, and public safety receive robust, secure, and scalable control room systems.

You will partner closely with Sales, Product, and Services to translate customer needs into workable architectures, accurate bills of materials, and on‑time, on‑budget project outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Pre‑Sales / Application Engineering (≈50%)

    • Discovery & Scoping: Lead technical discovery sessions, site surveys, and requirements capture with customers and partners; assess workflows, redundancy needs, ergonomics, and security.
    • Solution Design: Architect end‑to‑end control room solutions (e.g., KVM switching & extension, AV‑over‑IP, video walls, operator workstations, control systems, audio DSP, intercom, and UCC integration).
    • Documentation & Estimation: Produce system schematics, network topologies, BoMs, rack elevations, cable schedules, and cost estimates; ensure design compliance (e.g., ISO 11064 ergonomics, electrical/safety, cybersecurity baselines).
    • Technical Bids: Support RFI/RFP/RFQ responses, solution narratives, compliance matrices, and method statements; present designs to customer technical stakeholders.
    • Proof‑of‑Concepts & Demos: Plan and execute lab/field PoCs, product demos, performance validation, and interoperability testing.
    • Enablement: Provide technical enablement to channel partners and internal sales; deliver content for proposals and customer workshops.

    Post‑Sales / Project Engineering (≈50%)

    • Project Execution: Translate designs into implementable plans; define scope, dependencies, and deliverables; coordinate internal/external resources.
    • Installation & Commissioning: Oversee installations, configurations, and end‑to‑end system integration; perform acceptance testing and quality assurance.
    • Handover & Training: Create as‑built documentation, O\&M manuals, and training; conduct operator/administrator handover sessions.
    • Support & Escalation: Provide advanced troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions; interface with vendor TAC and internal engineering for escalations.
    • Continuous Improvement: Capture lessons learned, drive “first‑time‑right” improvements, and contribute feedback to product roadmaps.

    Required Qualifications

    • 5–10 years of engineering experience in KVM and/or professional AV projects (control rooms, broadcast, command & control, NOCs, SOCs, transportation, utilities, or similar).
    • Strong hands‑on knowledge of:
      • KVM systems (switching, extension, redundancy, secure workflows).
      • Professional AV: AV‑over‑IP (e.g., SDVoE/NDI), video wall processors, matrix switchers, scalers, encoders/decoders, audio DSP, intercom, and control systems (e.g., Crestron/Extron/Q‑SYS).
      • Networking fundamentals: VLANs, QoS, IGMP/multicast, DHCP/NTP, SNMP, TCP/UDP; basic cybersecurity hygiene and segmentation.
    • Proficiency with CAD/Visio for system documentation; familiarity with MS Project or equivalent for delivery planning.
    • Strong customer‑facing communication skills, able to present technical solutions to non‑technical stakeholders.
    • Languages: Fluent French and English (written & spoken). Dutch is a plus.
    • Resides in France or Belgium; holds a valid passport and is willing to travel ~50% across EMEA.
    • Valid driver’s license; eligible to work in the EU.

    Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

    • Certifications:  AVIXA CTS/CTS‑D, CCNA, ITIL, PMP/PRINCE2 (or equivalent project delivery credentials).
    • Experience delivering solutions in mission‑critical environments (24/7 operations, redundancy, failover, SLA‑driven support).
    • Familiarity with control room ergonomics and relevant electrical/safety standards.
    • Experience with  Windows/Linux endpoints, GPU/video capture, and operator workflow ergonomics.
    • Knowledge of Dante, AES67, SMPTE basics, HDCP/EDID, and colorimetry helpful.

    Personal Attributes

    • Customer‑centric problem solver; takes ownership from concept to completion.
    • Detail‑oriented with strong documentation discipline.
    • Collaborative team player who thrives in cross‑functional, multicultural settings.
    • Self‑starter comfortable with field work, tight timelines, and changing priorities.

    Success Metrics

    • Design win rate and solution accuracy (low change orders, minimal rework).
    • On‑time, on‑budget delivery; adherence to scope and quality standards.
    • System acceptance at first pass from customers and partners.
    • Contribution to  best practices and reusable design artifacts.

    What We Offer

    • Impactful work on mission‑critical control room projects across EMEA.
    • A collaborative environment with sales, product, and services teams.
    • Professional development (training, certifications) and clear growth pathways.

    Equal Opportunity

We are an equal opportunity employer. Applications are welcome from all qualified candidates (M/F). We value diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of gender, identity, age, ethnicity, religion, disability, or any other protected status.

    Travel & Work Pattern

    • Hybrid work with customer site visits across EMEA (~50% travel).
    • Occasional off‑hours work during commissioning and cutover windows as required by customer operations.
