Junior Automation Engineer - Facilities SCADA & PLC (f/m/d)

The Role

We are looking for a Junior Automation Engineer to grow into the technical care of the Facilities Monitoring and Control System (FMCS) behind our fab - the system that supervises every utility our production depends on, from cleanroom air and chilled water to process cooling, exhaust and power monitoring. Here's the best part: you'll join during the final commissioning phase, working side by side with the specialists who bring the system to life. You'll learn it hands-on while the people who built it are still on site - and grow, step by step, into independent ownership. It's about as good a launchpad for a career in automation engineering as you'll find.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

• Support the operation, monitoring and maintenance of our SCADA system (Siemens WinCC OA) and our Siemens S7-1500 PLCs

• Take part in loop checks - learning to trace each signal from the field device through I/O and PLC to the operator screen, and to confirm that commands move valves, dampers and actuators; one of the fastest ways to understand the whole system

• Help investigate and resolve alarms and faults during commissioning and live operation

• Support instrument calibration checks and field-signal troubleshooting

• Help build datapoints, screens, trends and reports, and keep documentation up to date

• Gradually take on more system responsibility as your confidence grows

• Work closely with experienced colleagues and with our facility and IT teams

Your Qualifications

• One of two equivalent qualification paths: a completed apprenticeship as an Electronics Technician for Automation Technology plus further training as a state-certified technician (Techniker), or comparable - or a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related field, or comparable

• 2–3 years of professional experience with initial hands-on exposure

• Basic knowledge of PLC programming and/or SCADA - ideally in a Siemens environment (S7 / TIA Portal, WinCC OA), but a solid foundation on comparable platforms plus a willingness to learn ours is just as welcome

• Curiosity about how a large automation system fits together - from field instrument to operator screen - and eagerness to learn loop checks, diagnostics and commissioning on the real system

• A careful, team-oriented way of working

• Good command of English; German is an advantage
