The Supplier Risk Manager is a key member of the Global Supplier Risk Management organization and reports to the Director or Senior Manager of Supplier Risk Management. The position is responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and resolving supplier-related risks that could impact business continuity, operational performance, financial stability, customer service, and strategic sourcing decisions.
The role combines proactive and reactive risk management disciplines, capacity assessment, crisis management, insolvency prevention, force majeure response, operational recovery, contract risk mitigation, and supply chain resiliency initiatives. The Senior Supplier Risk Manager serves as the central point of coordination between suppliers, purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, legal, and executive leadership teams.
The successful candidate will drive enterprise-wide risk mitigation strategies, support supplier continuity programs, lead crisis response activities, and continuously improve risk management processes, tools, and governance models.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Risk Management
- Develop and implement global supplier risk management strategies.
- Establish and maintain supplier risk assessment frameworks covering operational, financial, capacity, geopolitical, environmental, and sustainability risks.
- Support sourcing decisions through comprehensive supplier risk evaluations.
- Create risk visibility and reporting systems for executive leadership.
- Integrate lessons learned from supplier crises into sourcing and commodity strategies.
- Participate in strategic supplier portfolio reviews and risk councils.
Financial Risk Management Background
- Understand supplier financial performance, liquidity, profitability, cash flow, and business outlook.
- Monitor supplier financial ratings and external risk indicators.
- Conduct financial stress tests and scenario analyses.
- Support insolvency prevention and restructuring initiatives.
Capacity and Operational Risk Management
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities, capacity utilization, and expansion plans.
- Conduct supplier operational assessments and gap analyses.
- Identify bottlenecks and process inefficiencies impacting supply continuity.
- Support supplier productivity improvement initiatives.
- Assess manufacturing resilience and long-term sustainability.
- Develop mitigation plans for capacity shortages and supply disruptions.
Crisis and Reactive Risk Management
- Lead crisis management activities related to:
- Plant shutdowns and wind-downs
- Act as primary point of contact during supplier crises.
- Coordinate cross-functional recovery teams.
- Develop and implement business continuity plans.
- Support supplier recovery, turnaround, and restructuring efforts.
- Ensure continuity of supply during critical disruptions.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for high-risk suppliers.
- Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Lead supplier reviews and executive escalation meetings.
- Support supplier audits and risk assessments globally.
- Coordinate corrective action plans and monitor execution.
Governance, Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare risk reports and executive summaries for leadership teams.
- Maintain risk dashboards, KPIs, and early warning systems.
- Develop and manage supplier risk management processes and standards.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to digitalization and automation initiatives within Risk Management.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in: Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics
- Master's Degree preferred (MBA, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or similar)
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in:
- Purchasing / Strategic Sourcing
- Finance or Financial Analysis
Preferred:
- Automotive industry experience
- Experience with supplier distress, insolvency, or crisis management
- Global supplier management experience
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and processes
