As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Engineering team, reporting to the Head of Civil & Structural. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing technical guidance primarily with temporary works and buildability as well as undertaking critical design reviews, value engineering and governance for permanent works during bidding and preconstruction stages. You will also be promoting safety and sustainability, and driving buildability across our projects. With a focus on quality and compliance, you'll ensure our designs meet the highest standards and client expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and support across projects and regional offices.
- Promote design safety, sustainability and buildability.
- Review bids, designs and engineering solutions for compliance, quality and value.
- Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities.
- Support allocation of competent design resources and external consultants.
- Develop technical standards, lessons learned, guidance documents and communities of practice.
- Undertake site inspections, surveys, audits and technical reviews.
- Support temporary works engineering and construction methodologies.
- Mentor and develop engineers and graduate staff.
- Support business development, client presentations and industry engagement.
- Lead and undertake technical reviews of design-stage deliverables during bid, PCSA and conversion phases.
- Support project teams in developing robust design briefs, design management strategies and design responsibility matrices.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and advice to all Lendlease Europe offices, ensuring consistent quality and standards.
- Promote and advise on design safety and sustainability practices, actively identifying risks and opportunities on bids and live projects.
- Drive buildability initiatives, monitor design quality, and assist in developing standard technical documents and lessons learned.
- Liaise with project teams, assist in junior staff development, and ensure timely, budget-conscious, and legally compliant services.
- Represent Lendlease as a technical advisor at tender interviews and presentations, securing future projects.
- Ensure temporary works designs adhere to safety best practices and company procedures, conducting site surveys and inspections.
- Conduct detailed design, prepare procurement specifications, and supervise testing and commissioning for project engineering and temporary works.
- Encourage and develop professional skills within the engineering discipline, identifying training needs for self and junior team members.
- Maintain open communication and team spirit, proactively managing technical integrity and processes.
- Actively participate in business development activities, representing Lendlease during client engagements and industry networking events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, with a proven track record in engineering leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of design safety, sustainability, and buildability practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools, including design and value engineering audit software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on quality and compliance.
- Willingness to travel as required for project needs and business development activities.
- Membership or active participation in recognized engineering institutions, such as ICE or IStructE.
- A proactive and positive attitude, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
