    Overview

    TITLE: Director of Resource Development

    PERFORMANCE

    PROFILE SOURCE: Executive Professional

    DEPARTMENT: Senior Leadership

    REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer

    FLSA Status:  Exempt

    Location: Hybrid work arrangement after 90 days

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the CEO, and in collaboration with the Board of Directors, this position is responsible for all fundraising and development activities to build visibility, impact, and financial resources, through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support. Provides leadership and direction to club staff to increase engagement and support of resource development efforts.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Knowledge, Education, Experience & Skills

    • Strong personal, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Customer service, communication and recordkeeping experience required
    • Able to manage multiple projects, while meeting deadlines
    • Considerable knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
    • Solid organizational, time management and project management skills required
    • Foster and promote business relationships and partnering within the community
    • Establish rapport and build relationships to promote mission of the Boys & Girls Club of America
    • Good public speaking skills required
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
    • Experience fundraising and grant writing
    • Knowledge of nonprofit management

    KEY ROLES 

    Competency Areas:

    Leadership

  1. Collaborate with the CEO/President and Board of Directors to execute a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  2. Provide expertise regarding relationship building actions/activities to cultivate potential donors, including how to build a pipeline for future donors.
  3. Ensure the organization identifies and qualifies the most promising leads; conduct donor cultivation strategies; track all prospects and donors in donor management system and close major and planned gifts.
  4. Partnership Development

  5. Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish strong relationships.
  6. Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
  7.  Strategic Planning

  8. Direct and implement an annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives
  9. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gift prospects.
  10. Work with Club staff and volunteer leaders to impart the knowledge to further major gift fundraising and to promote specific gift opportunities.
  11. Structure and conduct a planned giving campaign from the feasibility study to gift closure.
  12. Strategically facilitate setting fundraising goals and timelines that are aligned with Club needs and community potential for major gifts.
  13. Provide campaign consulting for capital or endowment campaigns when active from vendor selection, feasibility, goal setting, and implementation
  14.  Resource Management 

  15. Complete and submit expense reports, completed gift agreements and monthly reports, maintain portfolio weekly, and update dashboards/scorecards as needed
  16. Maintain close relationships with all BGCA-Resource Development Club services
  17. Maintain a close relationship with all Club staff and volunteers
  18. RELATIONSHIPS

    • Internal: Maintain oral and written contact with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, staff peers, and volunteers for the purpose of exchange of information, to provide progress reports regarding activities and planned programs, and to coordinate events.
    • External: Maintain oral and written contact with other agencies, business leaders, community groups, boards of directors of such organizations, and the media for the purpose of exchanging information and ideas and for the purpose of fundraising.
