    Description & Requirements

Broad Institute’s Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization supports the institute’s scientific programs by ensuring reliable receipt, storage, and distribution of critical laboratory materials and equipment. The Logistics Assistant I supports both SCM loading dock operations and Supply & Quality Management (SQM) stockroom operations, helping manage the movement and tracking of research materials across multiple Broad facilities.

Logistics Assistants receive laboratory consumables, scientific instruments, and other research materials used across the institute. They record inventory transactions in SAP and support distribution of supplies through stockrooms, internal delivery routes, and satellite laboratory supply stations (“minimarts”).

The role requires strong attention to detail and the safe handling of sensitive research materials, including hazardous chemicals and temperature-controlled reagents. Logistics Assistants play an important role in ensuring Broad researchers have reliable access to the materials required for their work.

Logistics Assistants may be assigned responsibilities across loading dock operations, stockroom inventory management, or other logistics functions depending on operational needs.

    • Digitally scan and archive packing slips and receiving documentation using OCR tools
    • Maintain organized stockroom inventory and storage locations
    • Restock satellite laboratory supply stations across Broad facilities
    • Fulfill internal material requests through the Webreq requisitioning system
    • Support movement of materials and equipment between Broad buildings and storage locations
    • Assist with intake and staging of large laboratory equipment and capital assets
    • Operate pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment as required
    • Communicate with delivery drivers and internal teams regarding shipments and deliveries
    • Handle hazardous chemicals, temperature-controlled materials, and sensitive reagents in accordance with institutional safety procedures
    • Maintain accurate documentation of receiving and inventory transactions

    Requirements
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • 1+ year experience in logistics, warehouse operations, inventory management, or related operational work
    • Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP inventory systems such as SAP
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately process inventory transactions
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
    • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs and perform physically intensive tasks
    • Valid driver’s license required and ability to operate institute vehicles including box trucks
    • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks or similar material-handling equipment
    • Strong teamwork and customer service orientation
