Offshore Technical Assurance Specialist Marine Operations

We are looking for an Offshore Technical Assurance Specialist (Marine Operations) to join BW Offshore's Operational Governance team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced marine professional to work across our global fleet, providing independent insight into the effectiveness of marine operations, navigational safety, vessel integrity and critical marine controls. The role combines offshore exposure, engagement with senior leadership, and the opportunity to help shape a modern, risk-based assurance function focused on safe, reliable and efficient operations.

The position is part of the Operations Function and reports to the Asset Assurance Manager within BW Offshore's Operational Governance organisation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Deliver Marine Operations assurance activities across BW Offshore's global fleet under the Technical Assurance Program
• Conduct offshore assurance visits, testing Work as Imagined against Work as Performed
• Provide independent insight on the effectiveness of marine operations, navigational practices and critical marine barriers
• Verify workforce competence assessment processes and promote consistent assurance standards
• Identify weak signals, emerging marine risks and opportunities to improve operational performance
• Influence leaders and frontline teams through coaching, challenge and constructive engagement
• Drive closure of assurance findings and support risk escalation where required
• Shape the future of assurance through continuous improvement and innovative assurance approaches

Qualifications:

• Degree, Certificate of Competency, or recognised professional qualification in Nautical Science, Marine Operations, Marine Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 10 years' experience in offshore oil and gas, marine operations, shipping or another high-hazard industry, with significant marine operations experience
• Experience in assurance, verification, auditing, marine operations management or operational performance improvement

Skills:

• Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to build trust, challenge constructively and maintain independent judgement
• Strong understanding of marine assurance, navigational safety, marine risk management and operational barriers
• Fluent in written and spoken English
