Overview
Calspan is a leader in advanced vehicle safety testing. We are seeking a hands-on Automotive Test Technician to support critical crash simulation programs.
In this role, you will work closely with engineers and technicians, and assist with test setup, vehicle preparation, test execution, and post-test initiatives to ensure reliable results.
Responsibilities
- Conduct tests in accordance with cutomer requirements, standard test procedures and work instructions. Take measurements, document results through procedures, checklists, photographs and highspeed video. Create test reports using MS Office software.
- Setup test articles, highspeed cameras and instrumentation. Perform equipment calibration, and repairs.
- Maintain, repair, upgrade test systems and equipment to maximize operational availability, and the fidelity and accuracy of test data.
- Support test preparations by building and installing test equipment. Complete mechanical modifications to test articles and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, data collection, electronic problems with test equipment and measurement devices. Perform, cable routing, soldering and test facility setup.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- AAS in related discipline
- 3 + years in related discipline, military experience or;
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
- Proficiency with computer skills, MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project), and Adobe products
- Must be able to work assigned hours as required to meet customer testing needs – may include overtime, nights and weekends.
- Able to lift, carry, push and pull 50 pounds, either individually or with equipment such as carts and cranes.
- Capable of climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and stooping to move and install equipment
- Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and shop equipment, for the servicing automobiles.
- Ability to read and build from engineering drawings
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications. Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
