Responsibilities:

</p><ul type="disc"><li>Install, configure, and maintain RDBMS and spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or MongoDB.</li><li>Set up replication, clustering, partitioning, and high availability (HA) environments.</li><li>Apply patches, version upgrades, and manage database migrations with minimal downtime.</li><li>Manage database instances on on-premise servers and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).</li><li>Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, caching, and memory usage.</li><li>Analyze query execution plans and recommend structural and indexing improvements.</li><li>Perform regular database health checks, performance audits, and capacity planning.</li><li>Work with application developers and GIS teams to tune SQL queries and spatial operations for faster response times</li><li>Implement access control mechanisms, role-based privileges, and data encryption policies</li><li>Establish and manage data backup, recovery, and replication strategies (e.g., pgBackRest, RMAN, Data Guard).</li><li>Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity planning (BCP) for all mission-critical data systems.</li><li>Perform regular restore drills and maintain detailed documentation of recovery procedures.</li><li>Ensure data consistency, normalization, and compliance with organizational standards.</li><li>Maintain metadata, logs, and audit trails for all databases.</li><li>Implement and enforce data governance frameworks and database policies (naming conventions, indexing, archival).</li><li>Manage schema design, table structures constraints, and relationships for both transactional and analytical systems.</li><li>Administer spatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial) and manage vector, raster, and topology datasets.</li><li>Support geospatial web services (WMS/WFS/WCS) through integration with GeoServer, MapServer, or ArcGIS Server.</li><li>Optimize spatial queries, geometry indexing (GiST, QuadTree), and raster handling for GIS applications.</li><li>Ensure interoperability between GIS and non-GIS databases through OGC-compliant standards.</li><li>Deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud-hosted database instances (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).</li><li>Work with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated provisioning, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for database environments.</li></ul><div><br></div>
