The Access Services Supervisor assists the Library Director in the management, supervision, and administration of the library. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring access to library resources for students, faculty, and staff. Areas of supervision include library circulation, course reserves, and interlibrary loan. The Access Services Supervisor participates in collection development, acts as a liaison for facilities requests, assists in the creation and implementation of library policy, and assists in the maintenance of the physical collection & space.
Responsibilities:
· • Supervise the library circulation assistant student workers and provide circulation policies and procedures training and maintenance.
• Troubleshooting: help with resolving technical problems related to access and maintenance of library resources. Work with campus Information Technology Services department to ensure subscribed resources work properly on current hardware and software configurations.
• Maintain configuration in OCLC WorldShare Management System for subscribed resources.
• Integrated Library System: Serve as system administrator for the WMS integrated library system. Provide statistical reporting for usage assessment as needed.
• Manage and update borrowing and lending settings in various ILL software and websites, including OCLC. Create and maintain data, consortia groups and paths, schedules, lending policies, and other information, and access and update as appropriate.
• Train and supervise students to perform bibliographic searching, verify citations, determine holding libraries, and navigate ILL management software and bibliographic tools of moderate complexity.
• Proxy Server and URL Link Resolver: assist with campus EZProxy server and OCLC WorldCat Discovery link resolver.
• Oversee circulation desk operations, including but not limited to answering user questions in person, by phone, or via chat, and enforcing policies and security protocols.
• Plans, organizes, and implements special projects as needed or determined by the Director.
• Perform regular record keeping tasks including tracking patrons and outside organizations with monetary obligations to the library and working with the Business Office and Library Business Manager on collection of library fees.
• Manage staff circulation interface & patron notifications, as well as maintaining the database of current borrowers.
• Coordinate bookstack maintenance and shelving of library materials with library student workers.
• Manage course reserves, including responding to faculty requests, processing materials, and maintaining the online course reserves system.
• Oversee daily interlibrary loan operations, troubleshoot issues, and process materials for lending/borrowing, supervising and training ILL student workers.
• Serve on college committees and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Submit work orders for library projects to the Facilities Department regarding building issues (e.g., repairs, custodial, HVAC, lighting).
