Massage Therapist, Licensed

The Licensed Massage Therapist – Oncology is responsible for providing therapeutic massage, reflexology, and/or other bodywork to systematically manipulate the body’s soft tissue. Therapeutic movements are utilized to promote circulation of the blood and lymph nodes, relaxation of muscles, relief of pain, restoration of metabolic balance and other benefits for cancer patients both physical and mental. LMT is expected to be familiar with evidence-based massage therapy practices for the oncology population, while providing safe and high-quality care for each individual patient and perform designated duties consistent with their scope of practice. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides safe, effective, and appropriate massage therapy for CARTI Cancer Patients.
2. Able to provide customized one-on-one massage for outpatients, including brief massage sessions during infusion, when schedule allows.
3. Develops appropriate treatment plan based on the patient’s goals, a review of their health history, and information gathered from the patient’s health care team.
4. Updates treatment plan based on the patient’s response to intervention. Demonstrates timely adjustments based on changes in patient status and/or needs – including, but not limited to, contraindications and precautions.
5. Completes timely documentation (e.g., within 48 hours) of patient encounters, using effective medical terminology in SOAP note format, in the electronic medical record according to standards outlined by CARTI Cancer Center.
6. Creates and maintains a comfortable, safe, and clean therapeutic environment.
7. Demonstrates self-directed, compassionate, and professional bedside manner.
8. Performs clinical tasks (e.g., responding to Carespace portal message, phone calls and tasks) in a timely manner.
9. Works independently, with minimal supervision.
10. Communicates positively & professionally with all medical colleagues, patients, and their caregivers.
11. Refers and maintains appropriate correspondence with other providers as needed.
12. Maintains a professional appearance.
13. Attends and completes all training, events, and meetings as assigned by Manager of Integrative Medicine.
14. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of each patient in accordance with HIPAA policies.
15. Collaborates in data collection as appropriate.
16. All other duties, as assigned.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:  Travel up to 10% may be required, based on space availability.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  None

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION: 

1. Current Massage Therapy License (State of Arkansas) required, and in good standing
2. Certificate in Oncology massage, preferred.
3. Minimum of 1 year massage therapy experience – clinical based, oncology experience is a plus.
4. Lymphatic Drainage Massage training/certification, preferred.
